Auckland, prepare to freak out. The eatery you’ve been waiting for is here. Say hello to The Butcher's Son, a one-stop shop for some of the best plant-based eats in town. 

Found on Jervois Road, this new gem is set to change the vegan food scene one scrumptious creation at a time. Brought to us by James and Louise Logan alongside Chris Kinnell The Butcher's Son features a hip modern fit-out,  boasting plenty of space adorned with cool earthy tones. From neon-lit signs to a fully stocked cabinet, it seems there’s nothing this gem can’t do!

“There’s something for everyone,” says James. “Everything is super approachable, you might not even realise we’re fully vegan.” 

He’s not wrong, a quick glance at the menu will have you spot faves including tacos, nachos, burgers and even a big breakfast! 

Currently serving breakfast and lunch, the menu is the work of head chef Angus McLean. Putting his experience of working alongside the likes of Peter Gordon and Yotam Ottolenghi to good use, the extensive menu will easily leave you spoilt for choice. 

James' top pick is the epic taco loco. Picture two corn tacos jam-packed with spicy crumbed crispy cauliflower, chipotle aioli topped with a refreshing charred pineapple salsa so good, it’ll drive you loco for sure. 

Soon to be the talk of the town is the epic beet burger. Featuring a beetroot, mushroom and tempeh patty, tangy pickles, ‘cheddar’, aioli, tomato jam all on a house-made brioche. Served alongside fries and salad, you won’t even miss the meat after a bite into this bad boy. 

Who needs to buy a house in Auckland when you can Avo Good Day? The Butcher's Son’s take on the brunch staple puts the rest to shame.  Loaded with smashed avocado, edamame, house-made beetroot sauerkraut and organic sprouts all rye, this little masterpiece is definitely one for the gram. 

Just when you think they can’t get any better, the eatery also caters for kids! From smoothie bowls to not dogs, you can rest assured even the fussiest foodies-in-training will leave with a smile on their dial. 

From house-made pressed juices to whizz-bang smoothies, you can rest assured all bevvies are freshly made to ensure you’re only slurping up the good stuff. Or, if you’re craving something a little stronger the eatery from next week onwards will also be offering a killer range of vegan craft beers, wines and cocktails. 

If you find yourself on the go, The Butcher's Son has you covered. The jam-packed cabinet features a stellar range of sweet treats from nutritionist sous chef and qualified naturopath Amy Lynn. Using only plant-based, eco-friendly packaging and napkins you can snack rest assured your eats are completely guilt-free.
