It’s another week down and another fantabulous weekend to look forward to. There’s plenty of things to do in Auckland in the next few days—get your Christmas shopping sorted, clear out your wardrobe and donate the extras to charity, witness a sandwich war, or choose something with a little more spice.
Here are our pics of the best things to do in Auckland this weekend:

IN FLAGRANT | Q THEATRE
Start your weekend with a little spice at Q Theatre for an evening of dance and sass with neo-burlesque show, In Flagrant. Make the most of the night out by pre-ordering decadent platters and drinks when you arrive…then sit back and enjoy the sizzle.
KOOKOO BIRDGIRL | TAPAC
Circus performer and dancer Sarah Houbolt brings to life the history of circus through this compelling tale of the original KooKoo the Birdgirl, Minnie Woolsey. Though years apart, the pair have a fair bit in common. Minnie had, and Sarah has, Hallermann—Streiff Syndrome—a rare condition that is characterised by being smaller than average, and differences in hair growth and eye problems. In this gusty performance, Sarah uses circus, theatre and dance skills to tell Minnie’s story. 11th-13th November.
Friday 13th November
SKYCITY BREAKERS VS PERTH WILDCATS | VECTOR ARENA
Your fave basketball team is back to take on the Perth Wildcats. Expect a night of action at Vector Arena as the SKYCITY Breakers slam dunk their way through the season. Supporting our local teams is one of the best things to do in Auckland!
COMEDY CAPERS | THE KINGSLANDER
Work getting you down? Home life not what you dreamed it would be? Shake off those woes and head to the Kingslander for a night of hysterics with Jarred Fell, the award-winning comedian magician (you knew that was a thing, right?) and well-known funny guy Brendhan Lovegrove. Also on the line-up is Alan McElroy and Luke Callaghan. Buy tickets here.

THE GENERAL COLLECTIVE CHRISTMAS MARKET DAY | C3 AUCKLAND
Damn, is Christmas coming? Why isn’t there any warning? It’s soooo unfair. Never fear, Listers, the fabulous folk at The General Collective are hosting a Christmas market with more than 112 hand-picked stall holders for your shopping pleasure. You’ll find everything from heirloom wooden toys, to jewellery, to cushions… you get the idea. Get some cash, get shopping and be that super organised person who has their Christmas gifts sorted before December has even said hello.
CYCLE POWERED CINEMA | SILO PARK
Oh sweet summer, we can almost taste you coming! And we all know what that means—ticking off another item on the 50 Things You Should Have Done If You Live In Auckland. That’s right, #11 is to sit back and relax on a summer’s eve watching a film at Silo Park. While we’re not quite there yet, Silo Cinema is offering a pre-season treat with a screening of ‘Art of Recovery’, a feature documentary celebrating innovation, creativity and community spirit. The catch? It will only screen if you (yes you, the audience) generate the power. This is a cycle-powered film, so get those legs pumping!
STREET FOOD COLLECTIVE SANDWICH WAR | PONSONBY
The humble sandwich has come along way since butter and marmite was spread on bread and slapped together. Nowadays the sandwich is an art form in its own right, and what better way to find the perfect sandwich maker in town than a little healthy competition? The Street Food Collective is bringing together Forte Greene, Viet Sandwich, Little Yellow Food Truck and the Pie Piper to battle it out for the illustrious title of the ULTIMATE SANDWICH CHAMPION. So put your food critic hat on and head down to Ponsonby to eat and vote. What better way to spend your Saturday?
Sunday 15th November
INTERNATIONAL PILSNER DAY | ANYWHERE THERE'S BEER
Beer and bread? Sure thing! It’s International Pilsner Day so there’s no need to make excuses for this fab combination. Head to any Wild Wheat store to stock up on some artisan sourdough bread made by Andrew Fearnside. It’s made with Pilsner Urquell, so munch on its doughy goodness with (what else?) a bottle or two of Pilsner.
PARNELL FESTIVAL OF ROSES | PARNELL ROSE GARDENS
Ah, sweet roses, you’re a thing of romance, of beauty and now, of festivity. Parnell once again plays host to friends and families wanting to soak in the beautiful vista of the Parnell Rose Gardens. There will be food stalls, games and entertainment, so this is the perfect day to wake up and smell the roses.
UBER CHARITY COLLECTION
If you needed an excuse to streamline your wardrobe (have you embraced the capsule wardrobe trend yet?) this is it. Get busy and clear out anything that doesn’t make you feel fantastic or you haven’t worn since Crocs were a thing. When you’re done, book a cab through the Uber app and in no time a car will arrive to take what you don’t want and deliver to the Red Cross—for free. You’ll feel less cluttered and have the warm fuzzies because you’ve done something good.
