This Week's Foodie News You Need To Know

If you read The Urban List you know how obsessed we are with finding great new openings, new menus, new products as well as chatting to chefs and discovering events that we know you’ll love.

And so, with this in mind, we’ve decided to pop it all into one easy article for you each week so you’ll never miss a thing!

This week, we have news about House of Dumplings, Lisa’s, some great new openings and a revamp of one of the top restaurants in Auckland.

Cheers!

Lisa’s New Flavours

One of New Zealand’s greatest food successes, Lisa’s has released three new dips and we can confirm that they are de-lish-ious. These flavours give your taste buds a trip around the world. The new Greek Yoghurt dip stars lemon, mint and butter beans, while the Mexican Chipotle dip has coriander, lime and red kidney beans. Lastly, the Thai Sriracha dip has roasted capsicum, sweet chilli and butter beans. Note that this is a change from their popular hummus in that it has a bean-base rather than chickpeas, and they’re smooth and tasty.

SIDART Revamp

The Urban List were lucky enough to head along to popular restaurant SIDART to see the wonderful revamp it has recently undergone. With the fabulous Sid Sahrawat behind it, you can be sure it’s awesome. With breathtaking views over Auckland, the restaurant now has a second dining area and bar. There is no detail so small that it hasn’t been thought about, mulled over and a creative and beautiful solution found. It’s almost already booked until Christmas, so make sure you put a meal at SIDART on your 2017 bucket list.

Sheep Gelato

Sheep’s milk. It’s a thing and now the Spring Sheep Milk Co. has launched a gelato…yep, their newest artisan product is Sheep Milk Gelato. Smooth—but not too rich—these little pottles of goodness are the perfect treat, morning, noon and night. The Urban List team can confirm that it’s silky, light and tastes delicious.

The Juniper Room

It is entirely possible that we’ve found the most beautiful bar in Auckland—and if you happen to love pink, then we think you’ll agree. The Jefferson recently opened pop up, The Juniper Room, and it’s a dream! Find out all the info here.

Bowl And Arrow

Another new opening this week—Bowl and Arrow. If you’re a fan of the biggest health food trend in recent years: the smoothie bowl, then this is one place you’ll want to get to quick smart. Situated in Orakei Village, we’re betting that it’s going to be a hot spot this summer. Find out all the deets here.

Free Avocados

Aucklanders were let in on a little-known secret this week—that there’s a place where you can pick these green parcels of goodness for FREE!  Say what? Yep, get the deets here.

The New Drink Trend You’ll Love

Beetroot lattes have been taking over our Instagram feeds as of late. Some of Auckland’s best cafes are on the bandwagon and now, you can get your pink latte fix at home! Say hello to Nutra Organics’ Velvet Latte. The powder stars a super healthy blend of beetroot, turmeric and chai spices (think ginger, cardamom, cinnamon and cayenne pepper). Mix with hot water, your milk of your choice (we opted for almond milk) and volia, you’ve got yourself a vibrant pink latte! Come summer, we’ll be blending this with cold milk for a refreshing summer bevvy.

House of Dumplings Hits Countdown

The Urban List’s obsession with dumplings is no secret and since we caught wind that House of Dumplings dumplings and sauces are now available at select Countdown supermarkets, we haven’t stopped grinning. The business launched in Wellington back in 2012 by Vicky Ha aka the Dumpling Queen. Now, her frozen dumplings and delicious sauces are no longer a special treat to be found at food shows, or trips to the capital. Vicky’s motto is ‘we want to make the world a better place, one dumpling at a time.’ Vicky? We think you’re doing just that!
