There are some truly magical spots in and around Auckland and now, there’s a treehouse restaurant that well and truly takes the cake! Nestled within the Titirangi township, new comer iTi, is elevated and surrounded by plenty of native greenery. There’s street-side tables, a warm dining room and a deck that can be cleverly protected from the elements thanks to a retracting roof.

ITi offers a handful of delectable cocktails, craft beers and a well-thought-out wine list. And, they have the answer to grazing with their long list of snack delights—wagyu open spring rolls sit alongside ginger dipping sauce, while the fig and goats cheese croquettes are paired with a housemade chilli jam. Or if you’re quenching your thirst with a group, the antipasto platter will keep everyone well fed.

If you’re in the market for a proper meal we suggest starting one of their the smaller plates to get your appetite rolling. Our pick? The confit pork belly with carrot-ginger puree, braised chicory and picked edamame.

From the ‘big plate’ menu the duo of lamb is a nod to the current season—beautifully cooked rump and rack sit pretty with a quinoa salad, asparagus, cauliflower and a super punchy gremolata. The Savannah eye fillet is cooked to your liking and is served with smoked potatoes, beets, black garlic and the all important, port jus. And make sure you save room for dessert. Upon our visit we went for the ‘strawberry and cream’ combo. Out came the wobbliest panna cotta we’ve ever seen. Snow white, this little beauty is speckled with vanilla seeds and paired with macerated strawberries, housemade honeycomb and a basil coulis.

They’re open for weekend brunch, too! And it will be well worth the drive for one of their breakfast burgers. Featuring pan-fried ham, a gooey egg, lettuce, tomato and cheese all sandwiched in a soft brioche bun. Or, for something a little different, go for the shepard’s pie omelette. Wash it all down with a cup of brew and spend the rest of the day exploring the wild west.

Open just in time for the festive season (and they’re not closing bar Christmas Day) we highly suggest making your way through the ranges to discover iTi—you won’t be disappointed.
