Melbourne Cup Day is soon to be upon us (Tuesday, November 6 FYI) but, sadly, many of us won’t be making the trip to Flemington. Fear not, you can still party in style right here in Auckland. Some of the city’s finest venues are going all out with big screens, bubbles and—of course—fancy hats. Here are the best places to watch the Melbourne Cup in Auckland this year.

Ellerslie Racecourse

Ellerslie

There’s no place more fitting to be on Melbourne Cup Day than at a racecourse. Taking a page out of Flemington’s book, Ellerslie Racecourse will showcase horse races taking place right before your very eyes. There will also be live coverage from the action in Melbourne as well as mouth-watering eats and an on-site after-party. The prestigious style award will be up for grabs, so don your Sunday best—or, in this case, Tuesday best!

Cibo

Parnell

Cibo is back with their fun and frivolously fabulous Melbourne Cup Day celebrations and it will be their best one yet! Onsite betting, massive screens of live coverage of the races and Champagne Taittinger flowing. The four-course menu will be nothing short of the best ingredients and there will only be 100 tickets available so get in quick! Email Cibo to get amongst one of the hottest events to celebrate the Melbourne Cup.

Botswana Butchery & Harbourside Grill

Quay St

Last year, Botswana Butchery and Harbourside Grill threw a Melbourne Cup party which was an absolute banger and they’re ready to do it all over again. Taking things up a notch, this year they’ll be featuring an even tastier lunch than last year consisting of juicy lamb rump and tender salmon. There will also be a fashion parade with prizes to be won and the after party will continue upstairs at Harbourside with DJ’s Murry Sweetpants and Dan Sing providing the beats. Click here for more information.

Bellini

Wynyard Quarter

Enjoy a day of full-fledged glamour at Bellini Bar located within one of the best hotels in Auckland, The Hilton. This was a sell-out event last year and it’s clear why tickets were cleared so quickly. From Bellini’s sophisticated fit out and classy ambience, this is a favourite amongst Aucklanders during any time of the year. Pop a bottle of champagne at Bellini and kick off the Melbourne Cup is high-profile style. Click here for more information.

Fashion On Federal

SKYCITY

This event is for the fashionistas of Auckland as there will not only be a grand prize for the best dressed but also a Trelise Cooper fashion show! Our friends at SKYCITY are treating us out to a field day this Melbourne Cup. They've got five of their top restaurants on board to provide Aucklanders to a long boujee lunch or cocktails and dinner. We're talking Huami, Gusto At The Grand, The Sugar Club, Masu and The Grill, click here and take your pick.

Pilkingtons

Shortland Street

Nothing screams fancy like a long three-course lunch at Pilkingtons while sipping on a complimentary welcome glass of bubbly. From midday till 6pm, watch the Melbourne Cup while you sit back and enjoy the high life and soak up all the live music. Make sure to look the part as there will also be a best-dressed competition where the winner takes a surprise grand prize. Tickets are selling out quickly for this Melbourne Cup event so get in on it quick! Early birds that book a table for six and more even get a bottle of champagne on the house.

Rydges Hotel

Federal Street

Get amongst the rooftop terrace at Rydges Hotel and soak up the views of the Auckland Harbour as they’ll also be hosting a long boujee Tuesday lunch! There will be a three-course menu and free-flowing Mumm Champagne as well as Birkenhead Brewing Company craft beers for the beer lovers of Auckland. Not only will there be live coverage of the Melbourne Cup Race but there will also be live music and entertainment for everyone to enjoy! Click here for more information.

Teddy’s

Ponsonby

If you’re looking for something a little more relaxing, head on over to Teddy’s to experience the Melbourne Cup. They have partnered up with renowned candle brand ECOYA and will be holding a sophisticated event with Perrier-Jouët being served along with tasty eats for $100 per person. Click here to save your seat for a relaxed evening of sipping on some premium champagne while getting live coverage of the race.

Mission Bay Pavillion

Mission Bay

Take your Melbourne Cup experience to the seaside at Mission Bay Pavilion as they will be holding a long lunch with a glass of G.H. Mumm champagne to add the cherry on top. Tickets will be $60 per person and you’ll surely be getting a bang for your buck. Mission Bay Pavilion is renowned for their classy ambience which is perfectly appropriate for this occasion. Email our friends at Mission Bay Pavilion to sign up for a day of live coverage of the races and music to top it off.

Ostro

Britomart

Ostro will be bringing the Melbourne Cup event of the season with their Veuve Clicquot Long Lunch and they will be going all out to get rid of the fomo of not being in Flemington. Ostro’s screening of the Melbourne Cup will feature runway where people can strut their look of the day in the hopes of winning a luxurious prize. There will also be an after party so we have an excuse to extend the fun for as long as possible with live music from Auckland’s top DJ’s. Tickets for the four-course lunch will be $150 per person but there’s also an option for those on a budget! Take along a friend and get in on their deal which requires a minimum of two people where you get to graze through a platter and of course, champagne! Go on to their website to save your spot.

Regatta Bar & Eatery

Takapuna

To our friends on the North Shore, you don’t need to cross any bridges to get your Melbourne Cup fix as Regatta Bar & Eatery will be hosting a stellar event at your side too. Regatta will be kicking off the race with a glass of G.H. Mumm champagne on arrival. The day will be filled with live coverage and music while the kitchen cooks up a four-course lunch. You even get access to on-site TAB facilities and there’ll be a cocktail bar to get us going through the long day. For more information, click here.

Soul Bar & Bistro

Viaduct Harbour

When we think of the Melbourne Cup, we think extravagant and Soul Bar’s floral aesthetic is perfect for the occasion. Although tickets to their long lunch have sold out, Soul Bar is still welcoming walk-ins to enjoy a drink as they live stream the Melbourne Cup on their screens. There will also be a DJ outside providing the tunes and the party doesn’t stop when the races end as Soul Bar will keep the party going all night long.
