If you've ever wanted a sneak peak inside an art gallery or museum after dark…now’s your chance. For one night only, the doors will remain open as art takes hold of Auckland for the spectacular White Night!
As a part of the Auckland Art's Festival, Saturday the 18th of March will see art galleries and museums across the city stay open till late, while music, theatre, street performers and circus acts take to the streets.
From Otara to Northcote, Titirangi to Pakuranga, White Night will once again claim the entire city in a visual arts takeover. Now in its fifth season, this year is shaping up to be bigger and better than ever before. Look out for a travelling French brass band, circus glow hoopists and a mid-summer ice sculpture—get there before it melts away!
Let loose your creative side and make your very own cardboard house light instillation in Aotea Square, or share a free bus ride to and from the various locations with the wacky pranksters from the White Face Crew. Get on your bike, donned in fancy dress, or stroll along on one of the walking art tours and be surprised and delighted by all this magical night has to offer.
Closer to the time, there will be downloadable PDF maps available so you can make the most of the shows, parades, demonstrations and readings all across Auckland.
