If you’re anything like us, you want a brunch that’s a) delicious and b) pretty. Look no further and visit the talented team at Woodworks. Located in the heart of Avondale, you’ll stumble upon a café whipping up mouth-watering, Instagrammable dishes that will have you coming back time and time again.
The venue is as beautiful as the food. Glossy wooden floors complement wooden tabletops and black industrial chairs. Draped festoon lightbulbs hang from above with pops of trendy greenery (fiddle leaf, we’re looking at you). Natural lighting fills the spacious area with outdoor seating available for those with dogs in tow.
As for the food? The menu is created with heart and soul and served with a smile. Waffles, burgers and an epic French toast...you’ll want to eat your way through it all!
Start your day with the ever-popular smashed avo with basil pesto and roasted capsicum hummus or opt for the unmissable cinnamon brioche French toast. The latter is served like a piece of art and paired with bourbon-infused banana grilled to perfection and drizzled with raspberry compote.
The eggs bene mixes things up with beetroot hollandaise served on a buttered toasted croissant. What’s more, it comes with spinach, potato rosti AND streaky bacon. Personally, we can’t go past the buttermilk chicken waffles. Better than your average, it’s topped with bacon, roasted capsicum, grilled pineapple and lashings of pumpkin hummus. Sign. Us. Up.
The magic continues across the all-day menu with lunch-ier numbers such as beer-battered fish and chips, braised lamb shank and fettuccine loaded with arrabbiata sauce. If you love all things bao (you and I both), there are steamed buns loaded with cabbage slaw, crumbed chicken and chipotle mayo.
There are also two epic burgers up for grabs (and you’ll want to try ‘em both). Choose between crispy buttermilk chicken stacked with avo and bacon or juicy pulled pork oozing with Sriracha mayo and cheese. Yes, please!
Pair your meal with a brew from Coffee Supreme or indulge in their comforting hot chocolate—it’s served with a stick of Whittaker’s! Better yet, the bar area is well stocked with wine and craft beers from the likes of 8 Wired Brewing, Liberty Brewing Co and Boundary Road.
Woodworks top the dining experience off with heeeaps of free parking (something that’s usually unheard of in Auckland, right?). So, what are you waiting for? Get your ‘gram at the ready and head to this West Auckland gem!
