If you’re anything like us, you want a brunch that’s a) delicious and b) pretty. Look no further and visit the talented team at Woodworks. Located in the heart of Avondale, you’ll stumble upon a café whipping up mouth-watering, Instagrammable dishes that will have you coming back time and time again.
The venue is as beautiful as the food. Glossy wooden floors complement wooden tabletops and black industrial chairs. Draped festoon lightbulbs hang from above with pops of trendy greenery (fiddle leaf, we’re looking at you). Natural lighting fills the spacious area with outdoor seating available for those with dogs in tow.
As for the food? The menu is created with heart and soul and the dishes are served like works of art. Waffles, bene and an epic French toast...you’ll want to eat your way through it all.
Start your day with a poppy seed bagel alongside a dreamy combination of beetroot-cured salmon, grilled citrus, marinated cucumber and vibrant beetroot crème fraîche. Speaking of beets, Woodworks’ bene is a beetroot hollandaise masterpiece. It’s served on a buttery toasted croissant topped with baby spinach and streaky bacon. It’s then served alongside potato rosti and roasted tomato—yum!
Millennial with a soft spot for smashed avo? Woodworks serve theirs on five-grain toast with basil pesto, onion jam and roasted capsicum hummus. More into sweet? There’s an unmissable acai and oatmeal verrine. Not your average oats, this one is served with blueberry compote, coconut yoghurt, seasonal fruit and a drizzle of honey. Trust us: it’s oh-so Instagrammable!
Personally, we can’t go past the cinnamon brioche French toast. It’s paired with bourbon-infused banana that’s grilled to perfection and then lovingly adorned with raspberry compote, pistachio dukkah and vanilla ice-cream. For extra deliciousness, it also comes with maple-glazed bacon. Hello, new favourite breakfast!
Pair your meal with a brew from Coffee Supreme or indulge in their comforting hot chocolate—it’s served with a stick of Whittaker’s! Better yet, the bar area is well stocked with wine and beers from the likes of 8 Wired Brewing, Liberty Brewing Co and Boundary Road.
Keep an eye out for Woodwork’s weekly specials. You can nab a $2 coffee on Monday and Tuesdays with a brunch item. Visit again on Friday nights (they’re open until 9pm) for pizza and beer for just $20. Friday drinks just got a whole lot tastier!
Get your ’gram at the ready and put Woodworks on your brunch hit-list. The West Auckland beauty is calling your name (and your stomach!).
