Hallelujah it’s almost the weekend! Time to hang out, kick it and chill with more food, markets and shows than you can poke a stick at! Not going to Splendour? Don’t fret petals! Here’s what’s on in Brisbane this weekend:

Thursday 21st July

Fat Noodle Degustation with Luke Nguyen | Fat Noodle

Love Vietnamese food? Wish Luke Nguyen invited you to his place every other weekend for lush dinner parties? Let Good Food Month turn your dreams into reality this weekend. Luke is welcoming you to his crib, Fat Noodle, for a 10-course degustation inspired by his international career and exotic tastes in Asian fusion and seasonal Australian produce. Get up close and personal with the master and his skills – you’ll probably be best friends by the end of it.

Brisbane’s Night Noodle Markets

Arguably one of the best events on the Brisbane calendar, the Night Noodle Markets are back in town! We’ve only been waiting all year! 25 of Brisbane’s best Asian eateries are setting up shop in the South Bank Parklands to flaunt their stuff and bring you all of your favourite feeds for 12 days only. Get your hands on all the dumplings, satays, baos and noodles you can, then treat yourself to the likes of Sydney baking legends Black Star Pastry’s strawberry and watermelon cake, Harajuku Gyoza’s Raindrop cake and Doughnut Time.

Friday 22nd July

Chocolate Making Workshop | Wandering Cooks

“Healthy chocolate? No way!” you say, well Kitchen Remedy says “yes way!” This workshop will teach you how to make handmade chocolates the healthy way, if you can believe it! The team at Kitchen Remedy will help you try your hand at making sugar-free, gluten-free, raw vegan chocolate from scratch and turning it into salted caramel chocolate slice and dark chocolate coconut truffles. Yum!

Pokémon Go-MA | QAGOMA

If you're keen to battle it out, there's even a gym by the river for you to try your skills! Tattersall’s Race Day | Doomben Racecourse

Tanqueray G & Tea Garden Party | Darling & Co

If the idea of T without the G, sends you into a state of confusion, then Darling & Co has the ideal afternoon for you! Gin is the focus of their special high tea, with three sample cocktails and iced teas, all for your gin-loving pleasure. No garden party is complete without the bite-sized classics, so of course, there will be finger sandwiches and melting moments aplenty to quell your high tea hunger.

Suitcase Rummage On Miss Fisher’s Lawn Party | Old Government House

As part of the Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries costume exhibition in Old Government House, immerse yourself in the style and class of the 1920’s at Miss Fisher’s Lawn Party. Be like the badass Miss Fisher herself and chew on smoked salmon tarts and melting moments from your pre-ordered 1920’s picnic hamper after swinging to some good, old-fashioned live jazz music. You can also gather all the vintage and handmade treasures you need to look the part from the Suitcase Rummage markets who will be setting up shop next door.

Riverside Gardens Markets | City Botanic Gardens

Hit up the City Botanic Gardens this Sunday for a wander through the Riverside Gardens Markets. Eat your way through the street food vendors and then pick up some of the handcrafted gems designed by the people of Brisbane before you mosey on over to the grass for a lie down in the sunshine. Perfection!

Bush Does It Better | Homage Restaurant

Plan a stay-cay and head to Spicers Hidden Vale for their Bush Does it Better dinner at thier aware-winning restaurant, Homage. Hosted in their barnyard, this intimate fireside event will feature a tasting menu showcasing Homage’s chefs and the natural produce of the area. The bush is strutting its stuff for this occasion, with ingredients grown and sourced on site at Homage and their neighbouring farms, it’s a dinner that is not to be missed.

Chi Udaka | Brisbane Powerhouse

Prepare your senses for the cultural melting pot of Chi Udaka. This master collaboration between the use of Japanese taiko drums and South Indian classical dance that combine to create an intensely rhythmical artistic performance. World renowned choreographers and writers contributed to the creation of this critically acclaimed production set to arrive in Brisbane in August. The Brisbane Powerhouse will also play host to special Taiko workshops for beginners and experienced players so you can beat it with the best of them.

Get ready Brisbane, all things arts are coming your way! From the fantastical, to the quirky, Brisbane Festival have a huge program for you this year with performances across Brisbane, a food fight, a giant dance floor and a dance show with music by Pharrell Williams. This year’s Brisbane Festival is sizing up to be bigger and better than ever so hold on to your hats (you too, Pharrell)!
