The weather is getting warmer, the sun is setting later, and the party season is upon us. Not only is it the time of year for Christmas Parties, but New Year's Eve is coming up, as well as Spring Racing, and is it just me, or are there a lot of birthdays cropping up at the moment as well? Yep, they don't call this the silly season for nothing!
I'm sure that all of you Urban Listers will be receiving your fair share of party invites soon, but what about those among us who need to host a party at this time of year? Maybe it's your birthday, or you're throwing one for a friend or loved one? Maybe you've been tasked with the onerous fabulous duty of planning the office end-of-year shindig?
Fear not, loyal readers, I've done my research and am here to provide my recommendations for some of the hottest party spots of the season, guaranteed to have your guests patting you on the back 'till New Years.
For a sophisticated soiree, why not look into a private room at Public? They offer two choices, the Dining Room or the Drawing Room, and offer a specific Banquet menu for Functions. Tres chic, indeed.
Stokehouse offer packages for groups of all sizes, with several packages designed specifically for large parties. With their sweeping views out across the River, as well as the stylish surrounds and impeccable service, this would make for a memorable Christmas party, indeed.
What an experience it would be to book out the entire Moda venue and throw a full three-course menu for up to 70 friends, family members, or colleagues. The venue at Moda is a perfect choice for those who work in the CBD.
Stockholm Syndrome is a wonderful niche venue for those looking for spots outside the City. They specialise in themed events, so, with Halloween coming up, this could be a really interesting choice. Otherwise, I've heard the Swedes really know how to do Christmas right.
So here's the choice: do you care for shared Vietnamese-fusion dining in the opulent interior at Libertine, or would you prefer canapés under the stars amidst the twinkling fairy lights of the courtyard? Hmmm… I feel like it's win win.
Uptown at Crosstown Eating House
Upstairs at the Crosstown, hides the Uptown - a beautifully-decorated, low-key space for groups up to 55. Typically-delicious Crosswtown canapés are on offer, featuring the signature Crosstown twist. No venue remorse here.
Question: what's the one thing you miss most at large scale functions? Answer: cocktails. Canvas are here to bridge the gap between a standard wine and beer function and their world-class cocktail offerings. Don't mind if I do!
A truly spectacular location for any event, the team at Mr & Mrs G will work with you to create the ultimate setting for your evening. The views are enough to sweep anyone off their feet, and the drinks menu is enough to provoke serious consideration.
Offering a cocktail event in the bar, in the restaurant, or a full sit-down dinner, this venue offers precisely the mix of excellent food, truly attentive service, and an interesting drinks menu that really makes a party a success.
What could be nicer, or more traditionally-Queensland, than relaxing on a deck while the sun sets, with a drink in hand? Lady Lamington brings the perfect relaxed, yet sophisticated, venue for any event.
