It’s officially December (don't freak out!), which means that Christmas-related things to do in Brisbane are popping up all over town this weekend. Luckily, we’ve got you covered with our handy-dandy guide of what to do in this fair city of ours. We’ve got everything from an exhibition made entirely of Lego, to birthday parties at art galleries. All you've got to do is scrowl, and make lots of mental notes.

Here's what's on this weekeknd in Brisbane.

Thursday 1st December 

Paddington Community Christmas Fair

If you’ve noticed red bows popping up around Paddington, then all you need to do is follow their trail to discover the festive delight that is the Paddington Community Christmas Fair. Kicking off at Red Works on Given Terrace, the fair will continue up to Happiness Place on Latrobe Terrace. All the shops along this stretch will be open for you to treat yourself while you enjoy the Christmas vibes. Be sure to keep an eye out for attractions galore.

Dr Karl: The Doctor at the Powerhouse

Beloved Aussie icon and science wiz extraordinaire, Dr Karl will be appearing at the Brisbane Powerhouse as part of their Wonderland 2016 and Writers+Ideas series. The Doctor is on a mission to interpret the beauty and mystique of the scientific world around us, unearthing theories surrounding everything from time travel to immortal jellyfish. Now, he’ll share this information with Brisbane in his capacity as Australia’s answer to Carl Sagan.

Eat Fried Chicken For A Good Cause

If you’re looking for an excuse to eat endless amounts of crispy fried chicken guilt-free, you’ve come to the right place. For the entire month of December, Ribs & Burgers will be serving up succulent ribs of tender goodness for Ribs 4 Kids in support of Save Our Sons (the peak body for Duchenne in Australia). Served with their legendary ranch sauce (it’s seriously so good you could drink it), these mouth-watering new ribs are an absolute must, and considering $2 from each sale will go straight to the children’s charity, you can eat as many as you want.

Friday 2nd December

QAGOMA Turns 10

In celebration of QAGOMA’s 10th Birthday, every floor of the gallery will be transformed with awe-inspiring art. Highlights include Celeste Boursier-Mougenot’s musical installation of live finches, Huang Yong Ping’s monumental serpent skeleton and Anthony McCall’s sensory projection of light. But the real star of the show is ‘Sugar Spin’, a new exhibition featuring over 250 contemporary artworks exploring light, space, architecture and the senses. Friday night plans are definitely sorted.

Manu Fieldel 'More Please' Book Launch

Beloved celebrity chef, Manu is coming to Brisbane this Friday for an exclusive lunch, launching his new book 'More Please' at e'cco. Join Manu for a three-course menu lifted from the pages of his new cookbook, and get meet the man himself—you even get to take home your own copy! Tickets are almost solf out, so be quick!

Christmas Care Concert with the Noonans

Acclaimed singers Maggie, Katie and Tyrone Noonan will present a smorgasbord of inspiring music at the Christmas Care Concert this Saturday. With the Noonans being joined by the likes of Anthony Garcia and William Barton, the Christmas Care Concert will raise vital funds for the work of the Gallipoli Medical Research Foundation. It's a Christmas concert for a good cause, how could you say no?

Lego “Wonders of the World” Exhibition

Ever wanted to see the Great Wall of China, the Arc De Triomphe or the Empire State Building, but can’t afford those pricy plane tickets? Well, fear not, because Ryan ‘The Brickman’ McNaught is bringing these wonders to the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre—and they’re all made out of Lego! Take a journey through over 50 never-before-seen models of the world’s greatest treasures without having to leave good ol’ Brisbane. Boudoir Bazaar Fashion Markets

Combine sustainable fashion, thrift shopping and high-end brands and you get the Boudoir Bazaar Fashion Markets. Boudoir Bazaar was created to sate both the needs of the fashion-savvy and those on the hunt for the ultimate bargain buy. Boasting second-hand goodies from brands like Camilla, Mimco, Alannah Hill, Armani and Marc Jacobs, these markets are a vintage-shopping dream.

Christmas Markets at Dunlop Park

Created by the World Food Markets, this Corinda-based market will be built around the concept of old-school, European-style Christmas markets. It will feature over 20 stalls selling Christmas cakes and puddings, decorations for your tree, local handmade goods and you might even bag an artisanal gift for those lucky few left on your present list. Brisbane’s best food trucks will also make an appearance, perfect for the food-lover within all of us.
