Boy, have we got the mega-scoop of what’s happening this weekend in Brisbane for you guys. Think less spending the entire day on the couch with Netflix (the real love of our lives, let’s be real), more cat yoga. Huh? Yes, you heard right, yoga involving adorably fluffy felines is happening this weekend, so are some epic Christmas Markets, and a Harry Potter party! 

So whip out those diaries, cross out that Christmas party you’ve been dreading anyway, and take your pick of the wacky and wonderful events on offer this weekend in Brisbane.

Thursday 15th December

Christmas On Cribb Markets

The Milton Markets are putting on their very own Christmas shin-dig, lovingly named Christmas On Cribb. This festive spectacular will feature pop-up bars, festive foods, live entertainment on two stages (two!) and will be decorated to the nines with Christmas wonder. This spot is the perfect way to finish all your holiday shopping, while still leaving time to pop in for a Christmas-themed cocktail while you’re at it. Thursday night plans are definitely sorted!

Ellery Sample Sale

Cat Yoga

You guys, it’s a beginner-yoga class with cats, do we really need to say more? Brisbane cat-lovers can rejoice at this new monthly event by the Lucky Cat Café, in Annerley, Brisbane’s first ever cat café. If you feel like spicing up your weekly yoga class by gaining the attention of our feline overlords, this session is definitely for you. Classes are very informal, allowing you maximum time for kitty patting, and are suitable for every skill level. The internet is so proud of Brisbane right now.

Friday 16th December

Yo! Yoga Rave

If cat yoga’s not really your style, how about rave yoga? Brisbane gem Yo! Yoga is combining heart-pumping raving and yoga for an hour jam-packed with sweat, fluoro fun and a slick soundtrack. There’s also going to be glow-in-the dark paint at some point on the night, so make sure you wear white or fluoro clothing to make the most of it. It just wouldn’t be a proper rave experience without something fluorescent.

Vino Veritas

Vino Veritas, a Brisbane-based band comprising members from very different backgrounds will be performing a free gig at QPAC’s Green Jam this Friday night. Playing everything from Rumba to Eastern European Folk to Gypsy Jazz, Vino Veritas will take you on a musical journey through the many wonderful cultures of the world, all without you having to leave Brisbane. Did anyone say Friday night drinks while listening to some smooth Latin Pop beats? Yes please!

Keith Urban Plays Brisbane

The man, the legend Keith Urban is returning to his roots with this concert at th BEC in Boondall. As of writing this, there are still tickets available for purchase, so hop to it if you’re ready for a hootin’ good night of country music.

Saturday 17th December

Meowy Christmas Market

The Lucky Cat Café, in Annerley, is on fire this week with their second annual Meowy Christmas Market. Argh, the puns, they’re too good! This cat-tastic market will feature a vegan sausage sizzle, baked Christmas goodies and a raffle, with all proceeds from the sale going towards supporting the work of Fresh Start Rescue Incorporated and the Brisbane Valley Cat Rescue. A bevvy of local artists and designers will also make an appearance, including a pop up vegan nail-bar from Julisa. Just make sure you head on upstairs to the free cat patting session before you get your nails did.

Harry Potter Party 

You heard it here first, folks, The Brightside in Fortitude Valley will be hosting a Harry Potter themed party this Saturday night and you bet we’re donning our house colours for it! Boasting activities like Quidditch Pong and offering Butter Beer Buckets, this event will make even the Yule Ball look lame. Don’t forget to pick up your free house badge from the sorting hat before letting loose to live tunes from Pridelands and Diamond Construct.

South Bank Christmas Market
