13 Pretty Spectacular Things To Do This Weekend In Brisbane

By Erin Curtain - 26 Apr 2018

This weekend in Brisbane is chock a block full of festivals! We are talking fashion events, live music, cultural festivals, film fests, and comedy shows—phew, it's bloody exhausting just reading it all!

Here at The Urban List, we see this cluster of festivals as a natural phenomenon; one that needs to be taken FULL advantage of before it disappears. This probably only happens about once a century (by our super accurate calculations) so it is basically the event equivalent of an eclipse. Lucky for you, we have compiled a list of exactly when and where all the worthwhile events are taking place this weekend. Go forth, attend these Brisbane festivals, seize your destiny!

All Weekend

Spanish Film Festival

The Spanish Film Festival is back for its 21stseason, this time taking on the theme of evoking ‘reel inspiracíon’ through the 25 films that will be screened. Hit up either the Palace Barracks or Palace Centro to take part in the festival as it runs through the next two weeks in Brisbane. There will be plenty of new films to get your fresh Spanish film fix, with the festival ending on the one and only Guillermo del Toro’s Pan’s Labyrinth.

Twelfth Night

Now I know most of us have been conditioned by years of English class to immediately zone out at the mention of Shakespeare, but believe it or not his work is famous for a reason, and a jolly good watch when you don’t have a 2000 word essay due on it. The Twelfth Night is known as one of his funniest, wittiest, and sauciest plays. Definitely worth a watch, especially with such a stellar cast and crew opening it this weekend!
