Spring is well and truly in the air and this weekend is bringing all the goods to let you soak it all up as much as possible. What's on this weekeknd in Brisbane? The answer is a lot and it’s time to start planning your 48 hours of freedom! Seafood, live music, fashion and pretty much everything we love about Brisbane will be on display—if we could do it all, we would. Here are just a couple of awesome things to do in Brisbane this weekend.

Friday October 21st

Museum Twilight Markets

Add a twist to your next twilight market and head to the Museum Twilight Markets at The Workshop Rail Museum this Friday night. It’s set to be fun times for all with food trucks, handmade goods, live music, free workshops and oh yeah, a fully licensed bar (it wouldn’t be a good Friday without one)! Torchlight tours will run all evening and the kiddly-winks will be kept entertained from the very start!

Saturday October 22nd

Brisbane Mexican Festival 2016

A jumbo burrito-sized piece of Mexico is coming to Roma Street Parklands for Brisbane Mexican Festival 2016 and we can’t wait. Mexican wrestlers, mariachi bands and salsa dancing will be on to cover the entertainment all day long—the perfect way to work up an appetite for the authentic food and drink stalls where you will definitely want to spend your hard-earned pesos. Get on down there, amigos!

Wynnum Seafood Festival

If the working week has got you feeling 'crabby' and the warm weather has got you aching for a fresh feed, then the Wynnum Seafood Festival has got to be the place for you on Saturday. It’s Wynnum’s way of showcasing the best of what the Moreton Bay area has to offer, because let’s be real here, they are living the life over there (they have mud crab races after all). Live music, prawns, stalls, prawns, cooking demos and did we mention there will be prawns?

Brisbane Fashion Weekend

Brisbane’s fashion scene is booming and there’s no better time to get around all of the designer work, op shopping and runways you can. Brisbane Fashion Weekend is bringing it to us Brisbanites this weekend with runway shows and pop-up shops from some of Australia’s best brands and designers. With a Moet lounge and a pamper room to revive you after chasing those exclusive discounts and style tips, it’s a fashion event that should definitely not be missed.

The Red Deer Music and Arts Festival

The Red Deer Music and Arts Festival is set to be one hell of a good time this weekend. BYO drinks, friends and seats to the idyllic setting of the Mt Samson natural amphitheatre and get ready for the Brisbane champions, the Jungle Giants and Art vs. Science to provide the music goods. Hula hoops, a dance off, frisbys, food trucks and belly dancing will all be present—we’ve got FOMO just thinking about it.

The Oyster Festival

Holy shuck! A whole festival for Oysters?! We have died and gone to a kilpatrick kind of heaven. Let your oyster appreciation roam free at Australia’s biggest oyster festival on the lovely Bribie Island. Spend your day eating more oysters, seafood and wine than any one person should and love it! With an oyster shucking competition and oyster cooking classes, you’ll come out of it in an oyster daze. Count us in!

Sunday October 23rd

Brisbane Zombie Walk

The undead of Brisbane come out in force for the slightly menacing but totally fun Brisbane Zombie Walk. This iconic event is in support of The Brain Foundation to raise awareness and funding for research for brain related diseases, disorders and injuries. Dress up in your best and scariest Walking Dead costume and join the walk or head to the Roma Street Parklands to see the real life zombie apocalypse.

Bites and Vibes 

We love food and we love it even more when it's delivered straight to our door! Food delivery heroes, foodora are turning the delivery tables this weekend, putting on an epic festival to celebrate some of the best Brisbane restaurants in town! Don’t fret though, once you have had a bite of all 11 of their favourite Foodora restaurants and grooved to some tunes, you won’t have anything to be sad about—staying at home would have been an awful idea!

Hocus Pocus Jan Powers Farmers Markets 

Your favourite fruit and veg market is getting a spooky makeover for Halloween this year. Pick your fresh apples and kale with the help of a friendly vampire and snack on some falafels or honey roasted nuts bought from your new zombie mates. All of the stall holders will be getting into the spirit of spook, with special Halloween dishes and gifts on offer, so it definitely won’t be your average market trip!

If you were looking for a sign (like you need one) to treat yourself then The Sugar Market is it.
