Long weekends are the gifts that just keep on giving. No doubt you’ve been skipping through your four day working week like we have and now it’s time for more weekend bliss!

Brisbane is bringing it this weekend with food, fashion, music, art and everything in between. Trying to fit it all in will be a challenge so you’ve got some tough decisions to make, ladies and gentlemen. Here’s what’s on in Brisbane this weekend.

Thursday October 6th

Brisbane City’s Street Food Depot

Brisbane loves a good food market and so when a gathering of the best food trucks and street food vendors pop up, we flock. Of course, this weekend will be no different and the street food depot will be the place to go! Thursday and Friday breakfast, lunch and dinner = sorted.

Taste of Portside

Portside Wharf’s birthday is coming up and they are celebrating with their oldest and best friends; Moda Events, Sono Japanese Restaurant, Gusto da Gianni, Byblos and YOU! With each restaurant serving up their finest delicacies, this progressive dinner will be a night of indulgence with a riverside sunset to kick it off. Date night perfection?

Heart Of Gold International Short Film Festival 

This feel-good film festival is your perfect excuse to get away this weekend. Head north to Gympie with your bae, your mates or your fam and hit up the Heart Of Gold Film Festival. With the aim to present witty, postive and thought-provoking short films, Heart Of Gold will show 30 sessions from all different genres. Stop at the beach on your way home or take off another Monday! You deserve it.

Glitter Festival 2016

After the success of their inaugural event in 2015, Glitter Festival is back again and ready to throw one hell of a party! They are out to celebrate creativity, diversity and individuals of the Gold Coast in the best way they know how; with glitter. Over four days, the festival will showcase a full program of events embracing queer culture, freedom of expression, arts and the vibrant Gold Coast community. It’s a fabulous festival that definitely calls for a road trip.

Friday October 7th

Oktoberfest Brisbane

If there’s one thing we love about October, it’s Oktoberfest!  From pretzels to pork knuckles, Bavarians and bier, Oktoberfest is Brisbane’s biggest festival and held over two immense weekends! The Brisbane Showgrounds is transformed into an epic German beir house and boy, do they know how to party. Lederhosen and Dirndl at the ready, people! It’s going to be a cracker.

When: October 7th, 4pm-12am; 8th, 11am-12am; 9th, 11am-8pm and October 14th-16th

Safia at The Tivoli

Connoisseurs of cool, Safia are bringing their live tour to Brisbane and will be filling The Tivoli with their electro indie pop tunes. Friday nights were made for grooving and Safia are set to make that happen.

Saturday October 8th


Brisbane’s arts scene keeps getting better and better and we love it! Especially when it brings us awesome warehouse parties like Yonder. This collaborative event is a mash up of bands, DJ, rap and visual art with live performances and artworks from Brisbane’s most talented emerging artists. The warehouse is in Teneriffe so a bar hop could definitely be in your sights on the night as well.

Breast Wishes Charity Auction Ball

Do what's best for the breast and attend the Breast Wishes Charity Auction Ball at Cloudland this weekend. This fundraiser has set out to raise awareness for breast cancer and to support BRCA gene research with live entertainment and an auction. Dress to impress and get ready for a whole lot of boob puns.

Undress Brisbane 2016

The less than environmentally-friendly fashion industry is getting a makeover and Undress Runways is one of the many organisations making it happen. Their Brisbane fashion show will focus on sustainability as well as ethical, smart textiles and the future of fashion. Check out the pop-up shops while you enjoy champagne and bites before the show, and see how your shopping habits can be transformed for the better. It’s feel good fashion!

Sunday October 9th

Walk For Awareness

Take a stroll around the fantastic scenery of the Brisbane River in support of those living with mental illness in their communities. Walk For Awareness is an 8km walk you can take part in with your pals, family and furry friends. This awesome event is the perfect start to your Sunday morning and will help fund programs pushing to make a difference. Did we mention that there will be a BBQ breakfast? Get down there and soak up those good morning vibes!

There are a lot of things that we can thank the Italians for; gnocchi, pizza, tiramisu, olive oil, wine... We could go on. They also know how to throw a great party, and this year’s Italian festival is going to be a big one. Celebrate all things Italia and immerse yourself in all of the culture, arts, wine and food that you can find. Try your hand at grape stomping or chill out and watch live entertainment with a glass of red in one hand and cannoli in the other—how could you go wrong?

The Sunday lunch gods have spoken, with iconic Italian restaurant, OTTO now opening on Sundays for the ultimate in long lunching.
