‘Tis the season for Christmas markets on Christmas markets on Christmas markets! If you’re sick of giving the same box of chocolates and 3-pack of socks to all your extended family, get yourself along to any of the many Christmas-themed things to do in Brisbane this weekend, and buy an assortment of homemade, handmade, organic or one-of-a-kind stocking-fillers that are suitable for everyone from your brother to your Great Aunt Gertrude.

Thursday 10th December

Everingham + Watson POP UP

Liz and Suzie, the brains behind the Everingham + Watson design brand, are making a return to Brisbane in their POP UP shop this month! They’re taking over the old Cher Cher La Femme shop in Paddington, and bringing an explosions of colour and style with them.

The 8th Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art (APT8)

QAGOMA is opening its doors for the 8th Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art (APT8), internationally renowned as the world's only major recurring exhibition of art from Australia, Asia and the Pacific. After seeing 32 000 visitors come through for the opening weekend, it’s obvious that it’s a must see event!

LEGO Brick Man Experience in Brisbane

Australia's largest LEGO exhibition The Brick Man Experience by Ryan McNaught heads to Brisbane's Convention & Exhibition Centre showcasing some amazing LEGO constructions including Ryan's biggest ever Star Wars LEGO build, a QANTAS A380, a quarter scale LEGO Ferrari and the world's largest LEGO flower. Ryan is the only LEGO Certified Professional in the Southern Hemisphere, and one of only 12 Certified Professionals in the world, has, for many years, pieced together some of the world's best LEGO displays.

Friday 11th December

Pop up Soiree

Get your post-work sesh on at the Brisbane Sofitel’s exclusive pop-up Soiree rooftop bar. With 180 degree views of the city, and cocktails cool enough to ease even the hottest summer days, the pop up bar will only be around every Friday for the remainder of the month. Check it out before it returns to its VIP access-only state.

Be entertained, amused and seduced at the Powerhouse’s end-of-year party, Wonderland.  Complete with a cavalcade of burlesque, circus, cabaret, music, comedy, poetry, theatre and variety shows filled with international and Australian artists, the Powerhouse will have everything you need for a good night in Wonderland. The festival also spills into the outdoors with nightly Wonderland Food Markets by Jan Power and Bamboozled performance tents filled with a wide-ranging menu of bite-sized entertainment.

South Bank Christmas Markets

Our favourite Southbank markets being tinsel-ified and Christmas carolled. Along the cobbled streets of Stanley Plaza, twinkling decorative lights and the pine fragrance of Christmas trees will make the perfect backdrop for the Christmas-themed South Bank Markets, whose stalls are also gaily adorned in their best yuletide decorations.

Oyster Hour at Stokehouse

To celebrate Queensland’s unique summer lifestyle, Stokehouse Q is launching oyster hour every Friday, Saturday and Sunday throughout Summer, featuring a glass of Verve Clicquot Ponsardin French champagne an natural oysters prepared by Chef Richard Ousby and his team. Yes, that is chef-prepared oysters and wine, every weekend, all summer.

Eat Street Drive-in Movie Cinema

For all of December, the best of two worlds have just collided because the Eat Street Markets have added a pop-up Drive In and Outdoor Cinema to their repertoire! Bring in all the World Famous Funnel Cakes, Golden Gaytime doughnuts or Okinomi House Japanese pizzas as you like while you settle in to watch the latest movies.

Vegan Festival 2015

Being held at Brightside on 12 December 2015, the Brisbane Vegan Festival 2015 follows in the footsteps of the Sydney and Melbourne events. The Festival brings high profile speakers, live entertainment and (of course) plenty of animal-friendly food stalls. Speakers include Cowspiracy filmmaker, Keegan Kuhn, New York vegan chef, Mary Mattern, and animal rights activist, James Aspey.

Aperol Spritz Summer Sessions at Jamie's Italian

Brisbane’s designated home of the fab Aperol Summer Sessions is (no surprises) the home of delicious Italian food, Jamie’s Italian. Our favourite Wandering Cooks are putting on a very special Christmas Market – a chance to make present giving a little more local and delicious this year. Spread over two nights, you can sneak in a bit of late night shopping at Wandering Cooks, grab one of our hampers or stocking fillers plus a couple of surprises like honey and honeycomb from Bee One Third. Between shopping, have some dinner from a range of food trucks and a cheeky beer or wine at the bar!
