There are many things that Brisbanites love, but high on that list is a good weekend session. The ideal post-week sesh combines tasty snacks, cocktail jugs, live music, good company, and intoxicating summer sunshine. Whether it’s to wind down a wild weekend or to kick-start a big week, here are the best venues to end your weekend on a high note.

The Fox Hotel

South Brisbane

The Fox Hotel knows how to throw a weekend sesh, and their Soho Sundays are iconic for just this reason. With cocktail jugs you could drown in, platters of pizza and other treats, a live DJ, and gorgeous city views, it’s not hard to understand why half of Brisbane turns up each week.

Buffalo Bar

Fortitude Valley

A few weekend drinks don't have to mean a rowdy one. At The Buffalo Bar you can grab a couple of trays of wings to share, choose from the (almost excessive) selection of local and American beers on tap, and settle in to enjoy whatever live game is showing on their screens

Woolly Mammoth Alehouse

Fortitude Valley

For a mammoth session, hitting up the Woolly Mammoth just makes sense! Pouring from 12pm on the weekend, you can enjoy the DJ in the Alehouse or head up to the Garden Bar for indoor bocce and giant jenga. Loser buys next round.

Sixes and Sevens

Fortitude Valley

If you've spent your weekend giving the credit card a workout along James St, then you need to hit up Sixes and Sevens afterwards to recoup. Waiting for you is an impressive selection of drinks and nibbles, good chat, and the laid back kind of afternoon you deserve.

The Defiant Duck

Newstead

The Defiant Duck offers buckets of fried chicken, fresh prawns, and juicy sides perfect for weekend snacks. With live entertainment and 24 tap beers to work your way through, you’re in for a good time.

Fitz & Potts

Nundah

Fitz & Potts has been a local fave since their opening thanks to their dog-friendly balcony bar. On the weekends you can start the drinking from 11am with a huge tinnie selection, and all-day reggae tunes.

Watt

New Farm

Watt offers gorgeous river views every day of the week, but these views are best appreciated on a weekend arvo, basking in that sunshine, and cooling off with avant-garde seasonal cocktails. Share the elderflower smash cocktail jug with a friend or two for a truly special weekend treat.

Archive Beer Boutique

West End

Archive is the groovy lil’ bar you need to check out for your next Saturday or Sunday session. Well known as one of the premier craft-beer spots in Brisbane, they have 22 tap beers on constant rotation and a redic selection of bottled beer to work your way through, not to mention some of the best pub grub outside of the UK.

Riverbar and Kitchen

CBD

Here at The Urban List we love Riverbar. With a wine list that goes for miles, a cocktail menu that makes me dizzy, and that gorgeous view of The Story Bridge, it’s not hard to see why. Riverbar gets busy from 5pm, so start your sesh a little earlier to snag the best table in the house.

Soleil Pool Bar

South Bank

Capri Sundays at Soleil are about to reinvent your weekend drinking. Party like a rockstar with live music, punch bowls, the setting sun, and a much needed dip in the pool. BYO togs, but towels provided. Score!

Limes Rooftop Bar

Fortitude Valley

Brisbanites love drinking in the sunshine, and Limes lets you do that and more. Cool down in one of the pools with one of their crazy good cocktails and forget that you have to be fresh faced for work on Monday.

Kettle and Tin

Paddington

Kettle and Tin want you to enjoy your weekends, especially Sunday. With their live music, tapas style menu, solid drinks menu, and friendly staff, you’re guaranteed a sweet start to the week. They are popular with the locals so make sure you get there by 3pm to enjoy the most of their happy hour!

Sazerac

CBD

If your weekend session needs a touch more class and a few less 18 year olds, Sazerac is here to save you. Well known for their cocktail menu, you can enjoy breathtaking city views from the 30th floor whilst savouring a Kiwi Bikini cocktail with a seasonal fruit platter.

Seymour’s Oyster and Cocktail Bar

Petrie Terrace

Still fairly new to the Brisbane bar scene, Seymour’s has already made a name for themselves as a destination bar. With all Australian beers on tap (except Guinness, because awesome) and an amazing selection of white and red wines, you can easily wile away the afternoon with a platter of oysters and good company.
