There’s nothing better than the smell of freshly baked bread, except when it’s freshly baked bread on the weekend and you’ve got all the time in the world to eat carbs and frolic and relax.

Some of Brisbane’s best bakeries are upping their game to bring us fancy baked treats and solid coffee, which makes bakery breakfasts a pretty enticing option for a sit down weekend breakfast.

From classic Vegemite on sourdough to decadent sourdough brownies, here is our take on the best bakeries in Brisbane to try this weekend:

Cake & Bake

West End

Open from 6:30am on Saturdays, Cake & Bake in West End is a hive of baking activity that presents almost too many stellar breakfast options. Warm quiche Lorraine, danishes with seasonal fruits and buttery croissants make a great start to the morning. The coffee is on point here too, so it’s worth taking some time to sit at one of the tables inside and enjoy. If you’ve brought your pooch with you, there’s also a cute seat out the front so your fur child isn’t left out.

Davies Bakery

Tarragindi

The Southside loves it’s fresh bread and Davies Bakery, tucked into a little shopping village in Tarragindi, is renowned for it’s Bacon and Egg Deluxe and above average coffee. If today is your cheat day, the freshly made cinnamon donuts are also pretty epic.

Brewbakers

Albion

The line out the door most Saturdays says it all at Brewbakers in Albion. Everything is freshly made in the bakery next door so their famous sausage rolls, jam donuts, date and walnut bagels and levain bread are brought into the cafe piping hot.  The high quality coffee paired with delicious bakery treats makes Brewbs a winning brunch option.

Banneton Bakery

Woolloongabba

Weekend bakery visits to Brisbane’s best bakeries need to include a stop off at Banneton Bakery in Woolloongabba for the sheer choice in baked goods. There are crusty French baguettes with ham and swiss cheese next to cinnamon scrolls next to slices of lime cheesecake next to sausage rolls made with a hint of fennel. The outdoor space makes it the perfect place to read the paper and sip the Merlo coffee while munching on your treats and frankly feeling #blessed.

Danny’s Bread

Newstead

Danny’s Bread in Newstead is home to some of the most fabulous artisan bread in Brisbane. We’re talking about crusty loaves of sourdough, miche and bagels handmade onsite by Danny himself. Must buys also include Danny’s rich chocolate brownies and luxe Pepe Saya butter to slather all over your haul.
