TGIM! Err… no, not really. Doesn’t have quite the same ring to it. Monday-itis is real—we feel it too. That doesn’t mean we need to be on a massive moody downer, heck no, there are so many things to do in Brisbane this week our heads are spinning!

From Potter plays to Velociraptors on stage (surprisingly exactly like it sounds) Brisbane’s got a taste for post-work drinks and staying up all night. You rebel, you. Here are 5 awesome things to do this week in Brisbane.

All Week

Potter Unplotted: Improvised Comedy For Mischevious Muggles At Brisbane Powerhouse

Join Brisbane improvisation comedy crew, ImproMafia for a night of unscripted, unplanned Potter parody. With suggestions taken from the audience, watch the lives of supporting characters from Hogwarts unfold (just how did Neville Longbottom get that beach bod?)—all totally off the cuff. If there’s one thing you must see at this year’s Brisbane Comedy Festival, this, my friends, is it. Get your tickets here.

Jurassic Park: The Musical At Brisbane Arts Theatre

Everyone’s favourite prehistoric blockbuster is back, ripped from the silver screen and flung onto the stage—just minus the Hollywood budget… After a sell-out 2016 show, you can re-live all the scientific breakthroughs and dino encounters you can handle at the Brisbane Arts Theatre. There may be no Dickie Attenborough OR Jeff Goldblum (gutted!), but it promises to be a total crack up. Get your tickets here.

89th Annual Oscars Screening At Blue Room Cinebar

Why stumble across best actor and actress spoilers clogging up your Facebook feed when you can watch the whole thing live? Take the morning off work, don your finest awards-worthy threads and settle in at Blue Room for a few hours of glamourous millionaires and tiny gold statues—thrilling. Book your seat here.

Tuesday 28 February

Pizzantica Food Truck Hits Green Beacon

Get those weekend vibes peaking early by dropping in for Tuesday knock-offs and bulk carb-loading—courtesy of Pizzantica—at Brisbane’s fave brewery, Green Beacon. Pizza and a frosty? Our idea of heaven if you ask us…

Advanced Screening Of Alone In Berlin At Moonlight Cinema

There’s no feeling quite like getting a sneak peek before everyone else. Way to make everyone jealous, right? Settle in with a vino and bucket of popcorn for WWII thriller, Alone In Berlin which follows the true story of a family torn apart by grief during Nazi Germany. Heavy stuff it may be, but with stoic performances from both Emma Thompson and Brendan Gleeson, this is a wartime epic that’s well worth some alfresco screen time.
