Oh November: that awkward time of year between Halloween and Christmas. We might have packed our pumpkins and witches hats away, but that doesn’t mean you have to start your summer chill down quite yet. This week in Brisbane we’ve got everything from boat parties to wine tasting nights. Brisbane can’t stop—and we are completely on board.
Ready to get started? Here are 5 awesome things to do in Brisbane this week.

A Night In The Deep Beyond
Science lovers of Brisbane, this is the event you’ve been waiting for. A Night In The Deep Beyond, hosted by The University of Queensland, is all about exploring astrophysics in the best possible way. The evening will see Brian Schmidt, Nobel Prize winner, present talks from three international astrophysicists from the Dark Energy Survey. The topics covered will include everything from gravitational waves and black holes to whether there’s a ninth planet in our solar system. Plus, you’ll learn how to simulate the entire universe in your computer. Pretty neat, right? The best part is that the event is totally free, but make sure you register to ensure you don’t miss out. Doors open from 6:30pm at the Steele Building on UQ’s Saint Lucia campus. You can find all the details here.

Triffid Acoustics | Jeremy Hunter
The myth, the legend, The Triffid’s Acoustic Wednesdays series is back this week with a brand new star: Jeremy Hunter. A veteran Brisbane singer-songwriter, Jeremy Hunter has played in and written for a number of notable acts, including but not limited to former folk orchestra Inland Sea and frenetic rock band Feuds. His two EP’s feature ephemeral acoustic ballads perfect for transporting you to a faraway place after a hard day’s work. Picture this: kicking back with a craft beer and a burger from The Triffid’s ample selection in the ultra-chill surrounds of the Triffid Garden with your favourite people while being serenaded by Mr Hunter himself. We could think of worse places to be on a Wednesday evening. The festivities kick off at 6pm. Find all the details here.

Wine Maker Series | Quely Edition
Bring your best wine talk (that's right, those big fancy words bar-tenders throw at you) to Greenglass on November 9, because the Wine Maker series is here! Hosted by Spokenwine and Quealy Winemakers, the evening will pair French cuisine with home grown drops that have undeniably helped redefine the world of wine (big thanks, Wine-Gods). Featuring seven generous pours, including an exclusive vintage range, this is an experience every 5 o'clock wine enthusiast should not miss. For more info, click here.
Friday 10th November
Francis Inferno Orchestra Boat Party
Summer is just around the corner and Francis Inferno Orchestra has got your vibes totally covered with an ultra-hip boat party cruising down the Brisbane River. But this isn’t your typical orchestra cruise (if such a thing exists), FIO is a new type of ensemble made up of rich samples from disco’s back catalogue and a curated selection of raw drum machine rhythms. Appreciating history without getting caught up in it; Francis Inferno Orchestra has an entirely new sound you won’t want to miss. Approaching house music from a uniquely Aussie perspective, FIO connects soul, disco and sample-based music for one hootin’ good time. The cruise will take place from 8pm to 12am, with DJ Bossman joining the party to enhance the experience. Get all the deets here.
