With storms, storms, and more storms on the agenda this weekend in Brisbane, why not distract yourself from the awful weather with a jaunt to a few of town’s most delicious destinations.
We’ve got world class dining institutions, terrarium workshops, and nurseries-come-cafes on this weekend hit-list; here’s 6 Brisbane bars and cafes to check out during your 48-hours of freedom.
Located on the fringe of Brisbane's CBD, e'cco Bistro (or just e'cco to those in the know), is a true Brisbane institution. When Philip Johnson opened the doors to his restaurant, the idea of Brisbane as a dining destination was a foreign one. Now e'cco is known and held in the highest regard right around the country for their award-winning fare—a love of the seasons and finesse really do reign here. So hurry up and check it out!
The Soul Pantry
The Soul Pantry, located in a leafy corner of Newmarket, is an urban oasis of beautiful fresh flowers, exotic orchids, terrariums and plants. Oh, and did we mention the totally cute café on the side? The Soul Pantry offers a variety of workshops as well as exotic living gifts for that special someone, so it’s the perfect spot for a morning coffee and a flex of the plastic. This spot will definitely cure your weekend boredom.
Bedouin Brew cafe in Rocklea is the ideal spot for a relaxed coffee catch up. Located in a newly renovated plant warehouse, the natural light, open space and dozens of ferns adorning the space is a literal breath of fresh air! Bedouin Brew's name—and delicious Arabic-style treats—is all about enjoying the tradition of sharing coffee with loved ones, and is perfect for the Australian tradition of drinking it! Plus, you can buy gorgeous plants here, too! It’s your one stop weekend spot.
Day Made Supreme
With more than 20 years under their belt (seriously, these guys know how to roast a bean or two!), Day Made Supreme finally opened their doors in Woolloongabba. Serving up coffee—duh—and a great selection of breakfast and lunch items, Day Made Supreme is a gorgeous space, perfect for lazy lunch catch ups and brekky with the crew.
Canvas Cocktail & Wine Bar
A weekend staple in the eclectic Woolloongabba precinct, Canvas sports the heritage-listed feel of its surroundings (with a touch of graffiti). There is an amazing wine list, and nibbles to graze on, but you won’t be able to resist ordering from their amazing cocktail menu. How does truffle honey, fig foam, and coconut syrup sound? Yum, that’s what! The new breakfast menu served on weekends is equally scrumptious—and it features breakfast cocktails!
One part craft beer bar, one part Japanese kitchen, Zero Fox in Teneriffe is the achingly cool late night dining spot of your dreams. Housed in the gorgeous historic wool stores, Zero Fox serves up modern Korean and Japanese-style dishes perfect for post-work shin digs, late night feeds—even a quick drink! Whether you're after okonomiyaki, a classic ramen, Chinese steamed buns, or their loaded sushi rolls, Zero Fox has got your back. Add it to your list, stat!
