Oh Brisbane; if you’re sick and tired of always going to the same old Brisbane bar or dining spot, scratch the surface of our city and you’ll find a heap of secret locations perfect for a drink and a nibble or two.

From underground cafes to blink-and-you’ll-miss-it doorways, here are 6 hidden spots you have to check out this weekend.

The Walrus Club

Toowong

Hidden underground, secret Brisbane bar The Walrus Club is a cozy choice for the upcoming winter (and we haven’t even gotten started on the drinks yet). Tucked away in Toowong, it’s the perfect spot for a late night tipple; from premium drops to tasty concoctions off their cocktail, if you haven’t found The Walrus yet, we suggest you try this weekend.

Twig & Berry

Newstead

The perfect under-the-radar bar in the heart of Newstead, the Twig & Berry serves up one gigantic big TICK! for great-tasting cocktails, killer atmos and great service. Oh, and they also have a gorgeous outdoor patio, so grab a few drinks and plant yourself out back.

Fresh Sushi Co.

Fortitude Valley

Known amongst locals as some of Brisbane’s finest sushi and sashimi, Fresh Sushi Co. is somewhat of a lunchtime go-to. But did you know this little gem is open for dinner! Open late Friday and Saturday, now is the perfect time to get your hands on their winter menu including seafood chowder and piping hot ramen.

Elixir Rooftop Bar

Fortitude Valley

You’ve probably walked right past Elixir’s non-descript entrance, but, those who climb the three flights of stairs are rewarded with a beautiful, hidden rooftop bar overlooking Fortitude Valley. Not just a dab hand at cocktails, nosh on the pulled pork nachos or Ploughman’s board (our picks!) whilst you sip on your fourth Moscow Mule. Yes, they are that good.

Bunker Coffee

Milton

Those in the know are more than familiar with Brisbane café icon, Bunker Coffee. This gorgeous hole-in-the-wall serves up incredible coffee, and their takeaway iced coffee is truly delish! Well worth the hunt this weekend!

Heya Bar

Fortitude Valley

If you’re after moody lighting, pool tables, and delicious Asian-inspired street food out of your weekend drinking haunt, Heya Bar will do the job and do it damn well! The Hidden Dragon is a must-try cocktail, while their selection of dumplings and infamous cheeseburger spring rolls will keep hunger pangs at bay.
