Brisbane, we’ve got that Fri-yay feeling today. Why? Because the weekend is when we get to spread our culinary wings, break free from our regs weekday coffee haunt—love you though we do—and try something new.
We’re damn sure you haven’t checked out every Brisbane café or restaurant (Brisbane’s had a stellar 2017 to date—there’s newness everywhere!) so use your free time to get to know your city better; here’s 6 pretty rad restaurants and cafes to check out this weekend.
Mylk + Ko
Need a new brekky haunt that fits in with your healthy habits? Maybe you’re like us and you simply overindulged this week—that doesn’t mean we’re going to go cancel on the best meal of the weekend! Check out Mylk + Ko in New Farm for deliciously indulgent-but-healthy acai bowls, smoothies and sweet treats (seriously, you need to try their Golden Gaytime bowl). All coffees are on your milk of choice, meaning everyone and every belly will have a good time at this new Brisbane café.
If somehow you’ve not yet had a meal at Pearl Café in Woolloongabba, what on earth have you been doing with yourself? A Brisbane institution, Pearl is legendary amongst the lunchtime set, but by no means should it dare be pigeon-holed to just one time of day. Breakfast, lunch or dinner is truly one of the best experiences in Brisbane, so get there. ASAP!
Gather the gang and make plans for a session at one of the prettiest bars in Brisbane, The APO, this weekend. If for no other reason than to try their incredible new invention; Aperol Spritz ice blocks. Holy. Hell. We suggest a few share plates from the menu to keep things, you know, sober (ish).
Nothing gets us geared up like a decent sesh at a sushi train, and at MisoHapi it’s all about the good times. Tuck in to decadent ramen bowls, fresh sashimi platters and delish sushi plates at their super-cute train.
Save yourself from another night of takeaway pizza on the sofa, throw on your glad rags and make a booking at gorgeous French restaurant, Madame Rouge. She’s sultry, she’s hella romantic, and yes, they serve gruyere biegnets! Order a bottle of French plonk and chalk this up as a real treat.
Same Same But Different
Another new Brisbane café to add to your to-do list, Same Same is the very crew behind fave local café, Bare Bones Society. Expect a similar style of fare, except with a few twists—this is no bland avo on toast or eggs your way kinda shindig! From sour cream and chive hash cakes with spicy slow roasted pork, to mandarin and basil sorbet, this is no ordinary menu!
