Summer is officially over, guys. But because we live in Brisbane, the nights are still warm, the days are still long, and there’s still plenty of reasons to get out and about.
Boasting one of the best views in Brisbane (and over 15 restaurants and bars!), Eagle Street Pier is always our top pick for making the most of Queensland’s epic weather. If you need convincing, here are 8 reasons to make Eagle Street Pier your autumn go-to.
#1 Giddy Up
Pony Dining’s latest flavour-driven menu is a total winner. We’re talking about the kangaroo loin with blackberry, liquorice, and smoked beetroot; and fresh snapper with radish, sweet corn, and sea parsley, of course. Need we say more? No, but we’re going to anyway because if the main menu hasn’t left you drooling, the lush desserts definitely will. The Milk and Honey–honey parfait with mead, bee pollen, toasted hay and milk ice cream–is a must!
#2 Drink Up
Pony’s keeping the goods coming with a new drinks menu, but the signature Cocojito cocktail is all you need to know about. With house-infused coconut rum, fresh blueberries, coconut water, coconut pulp, mint, lime and soda, this cocktail is perfect for sipping as you watch the sun set over the river on a breezy autumn afternoon. If you’re feeling bold, opt for the Native: a tasty Negroni made with an Australian twist. Think green ant gin, okar, lemon aspen and pepperberry infused vermouth, garnished with an ant rim.
#3 Next-Level Lunching
Live that VIP life with a bento box like no other and be the envy of every single work colleague. $49 will get you the best of the best from Brisbane's famous Japanese restaurant Saké (yes, it even includes dessert!) and have you back in the office quick sticks. Pro tip: take a longer lunch and watch the world roll by from a park bench on the riverfront while you fill up on Japanese deliciousness.
#4 Treat Yo’Self
If you have a super-special occasion on the horizon or just want to try some of the best food in Brisbane, look no further than Aria. Matt Moran’s fancy Brisbane institution is inventive, exciting and damn delicious. Think genius flavour combinations, unexpected textures and artistic presentation, all delivered with ultimate finesse. Whether you’re there for lunch or dinner, you can’t really go wrong, and with a stunning backdrop of the Story Bridge, this place is hard to beat.
#5 Prime Real Estate
Eagle St Pier is located on arguably the most beautiful stretch of the Brisbane River, with the view on point from literally everywhere. Stroll down the promenade for a spot of people-watching, engage in a little bit of exercise (maybe it’s time to finally start those New Year’s resolutions?) or smash the 7km River Loop walk. Starting from South Bank and looping around the Story Bridge, you’ll not only get to see the best of Brisbane but stop at all the foodie spots along the way.
#6 Bottles Full O’ Bub
Champagne? Lunch? That’s two of our favourite things! As if you needed another reason to go back to Saké, they've introduced a super-chic champagne lunch, available every Saturday and Sunday from 12pm. Kick off the best day of your little life by feasting on a selection of stunning Saké dishes while enjoying free-flowing Dom Pérignon, Ruinart, or Veuve Clicquot champagne. Sign. Us. Up.
#7 Location, Location, Location
Smack-bang in the heart of Brisbane city, Eagle Street Pier is the obvious choice for an inner city rendezvous. Meet for casual drinks before a sports game, or go for cocktails before you hit the clubs. Lucky for you, the CityHopper makes getting to and from Eagle St Pier the easiest thing ever and it’s totally FREE (which means more cash to burn on food and drinks). Services come every half an hour from the Victoria Bridge to Sydney St, and pops by all the best sites in between.
#8 Literally Perfect Pizza
The only thing better than pizza is a pizza you’ve crafted yourself! Fratelli Famous lets you be the brains behind the pizza wizardry, allowing you to create your very own winner, from the base to the toppings and everything in between. Stuck for inspiration? Don’t fret! They have a list of classic bangers as well, naturally, including dessert pizzas (we're all about that comfort food life now the temps have dropped a degree or two). Oh, and we almost forgot. Their daily happy hour includes $10 pizzas and cheap beer, because everyone knows you need both to be truly happy.
