Thursday 14 July

Short + Sweet Festival | Brisbane Powerhouse

Enjoy some bite-sized performance, as Brisbane’s biggest, little play festival rolls around! Participate in judging up to ten 10-minute long plays and cabaret acts by voting your favourite Short+Sweet play through to the event’s Gala Finals. Short+Sweet Festival is serving up over 30 mini performances, giving you a real  taster of everything Brisbane theatre has to offer!

La Boite HWY Festival | The Roundhouse Theatre

Learn, enjoy and get inspired by some of La Boite’s best independent artists at HWY Festival. The festival also facilitates a platform for industry enthusiasts to discuss and contribute, helping to shape and understand the future of the industry. A truly thought evoking and engaging event.

Vive La France | Grape Therapy

Vive la revolution! What could be a better way to celebrate France’s independence day then by shoveling bulk French cheese and wine into your gob? The crew at Grape Therapy are letting you do just that, putting on a night of wine and cheese pairings. C’est Fantastique! So, if you like a stinky blue with a big red, or some brie with your bubbles, this is the perfect event for you.

Friday 15 July

Queensland Film Festival | New Farm Cinema

Cinephiles, rejoice! The annual Queensland Film Festival is back and bigger than ever, debuting some of the best contemporary films going around! New Farm Six Cinema will play host to a range of contemporary films and events, including exclusive viewings and panel discussions, for all yu movie buffs out there. The opening night kicks off the festival with screening of Julieta with canapés and drinks.

Saturday 16 July

Colombian Street Festival |  Fortitude Valley

Expect colour, great food, drinks, beats and, of course, dancing at the annual Columbian Street Festival. The festival has a range of delicious traditional eats (Empanadas all round!) and drinks (Agulia and aguardiente anyone?). Work all of that off by participating in some Columbian dance classes. Then hit the after parties with your new-found dance moves!

Regional Flavours | South Bank Parklands

One of the biggest foodie events on the Brissy calendar, welcome back Regional Flavours with open arms and an empty belly! With the likes of famed chefs Maggie Beer, Matt Preston, George Calombaris and Gary Mehigan all making an appearance this year, cancel your plans, pronto! Get your hands dirty at the little farmers day out, roam the food stalls, or sit back and relax on the picnic patch, there’s plenty of things to do for all the family.

La Truck Stop Food Truck Fair | La Boite Parade Ground

Get ready Kelvin Grovers, Brisbane’s best food trucks are coming your way! As part of La Boite’s HWY Festival, some of Brissy’s favourite four-wheeled foodies will be gracing Kelvin Grove, for an afternoon of feasting. The likes of The bun Mobile, The Bone Lorry, Little Back and Juan More Taco will all be making an appearance, so come on down and fill up!

IMA Winter Gala 

The Institute of Modern Art's Winter Gala and auction is back! After the success of last year's event, this Saturday marks the second run of this fantastic Brisbane night out. This year will honour Australian artists Tracey Moffatt AO and Richard Stringer as well as raising funds for the IMA to support and nurture local artists. The auction ends at 10pm, so get bidding here to do your bit!

Sunday 17 July

Sunday Family Laneways | Stones Corner Hotel

Stoneham Lane is set to transform into a family friendly festival, featuring jumping castles, market stalls and food trucks. Cruise around the various laneway offerings whilst tucking into some of Brissy’s best food trucks, like Little Back, Pit Stop Wings, Cheese and Deli Kitchen, Greek Street Kantina, Pipi Cucu Empanadas, KOMA Sliders, Gluten Off Donuts and Hett’s n Ice. Foodie fun for all!

Style Market | Bakery Lane

Check out the latest trends in home wares, clothes, accessories, art and clothing at Bakery Lane’s pop-up fundraiser, aiming to promote local designers and the Brisbane fashion industry. Students from the Australian Institute of Creative Design will be driving the event, with funds being put towards their end of year runway show.

When: 16th, 17th, 19th and 21st of July, 10am to 4pm
