Throw in an off-the-cuff comment about some good plonk and fresh pastries and we’ll be yours for life. Some say we’re easy to please…
If you consider yourself a regular Francophile (or simply have a penchant for devouring bulk cheese and champers), then you better get yourself southside this weekend because Brisbane’s iconic Le Festival is back!
Now in its 7th year, this fabulous three-day celebration of all things French is the largest in the country (in your face Sydney), bringing the very best of French culture to the banks of the Brisbane River. Ooh la la!
This year, Le Festival is even bigger than before—last year more than 600kgs of cheese was consumed and more than 6,000 glasses of champagne were poured!—with more than 70 market stalls popping up at the French markets for 2017. From incredible French foods (think freshly baked pastries, cheeses, breads, and gourmet pantry goods), fashion and homewares, to language schools and travel pop-ups ready to help you plan your perfect ‘vacances en français’, you won’t help but feel the whole event has a je ne sais quoi about it.
Of course, the wine pavilion will be returning with some of the finest French drops ripe for the pouring, plus a plethora of entertainment all weekend long courtesy of some of the finest French musicians, actors, dancers and entertainers going.
If you had any plans this weekend, scrap them. If you can’t afford the flight to Paris, whether you’re longing for a taste of home, or are just nutty for gooey cheese (let’s face it, who isn’t?) then get yourself down to Le Festival. Ce sera magnifique!
