It’s officially halfway through September, which means the Sunsuper Riverfire is drawing ever closer. Celebrating its ninth year lighting up our September sky, Riverfire 2017 is set to be bigger and bolder than ever and we are so on board.

But where do you start picking out a spot to watch the festivities with so many options to choose from? To save you the heartache we’ve put together a comprehensive guide to Brisbane's best Riverfire parties this year. Think tastebud-tantalising menus, killer river views and just the right amount of cheeky bevvy options.

You’re welcome, friends...

South Bank

Southbank Beer Garden

Situated on the river, overlooking the placid waters of Streets Beach, the Southbank Beer Garden is a prime viewing spot for all your Riverfire needs. This beauty of a package includes three hours of food and beverages – all without having to deal with the throng of other revellers fighting for a good vantage point. The beer garden comes with that as a guarantee. Plus, you can totally bring those family members under the age of 17 for only $40. We’re calling it: family date time.

The Jetty

All good things start with a glass of champagne on arrival and The Jetty is kicking off their Riverfire festivities with just such a blessing. Think three courses of mouth-watering eats, floor to ceiling glass windows and one spectacular view over the river. Oh and did we mention The Jetty’s Riverfire celebration doubles as a chance to unveil their brand spankin’ new look? Uh, yes please.

Popolo Italian Kitchen and Bar

If the idea of watching the sky lit up by fireworks while dining on carb-tastic Italian cuisine with your favourite people sounds like the perfect plan, Popolo Italian Kitchen and Bar was made for you. Their Riverfire package includes four hours of canapes and drinks and a perfect spot to watch the main event. Just don’t forget to come dressed in black and white, because Popolo is classy like that.

Aquitaine Brasserie

Famed for their modern approach to French dining, Aquitaine Brasserie knows a thing or two about putting on a Riverfire party to remember. Located in the view-heavy River Quay precinct, Aquitaine’s Riverfire package includes a three course set menu ready to make your cheese-loving heart skip a beat. Being able to dine on a French feast AND getting to watch Riverfire in the same evening? Don’t mind if we do.

River Quay Fish

So you like a more casual vibe to your Riverfire plans; don’t worry, we get it. That’s where River Quay Fish comes in, dishing up fresh seafood and butcher’s cut steak in a no-fuss venue overlooking the Brisbane River. Their Riverfire package includes a smorgasbord selection of all your favourite seafood dishes to share with the squad. Now all you need is a glass of vino to sip on while the fireworks go off above you. Ah, we could get used to this.

Eagle Street Pier

Bavarian Bier Café

The Bavarian Bier Café might have made its name as the perfect spot for a killer Sunday sesh, but did you know that the balcony doubles as a pretty spectacular spot to watch Riverfire. We know, we’re excited too! The Bavarian Bier Café’s Riverfire bonanza is a cocktail-style event where four hours of drinks, including beer, house wines, champagne and the cocktail of the night, are included in the ticket price. And that’s all before you get to the Chef’s special finger foods that will be circulating throughout the event. Sign us up for an exclusive balcony area any day of the week.

Riverbar & Kitchen

The myth, the legend, Riverbar & Kitchen is once again throwing their Riverfire extravaganza in the lush surrounds of their garden bar. The Riverfire package includes a three-hour beverage package, featuring Chandon sparkling and the event-specific Riverfire cocktail, food stations with every type of eats you can think of and prime viewing for the night’s true attraction. Oh and did we mention Riverbar is also playing host to a DJ to sling some tunes well into the evening. Riverbar, you’ve done it again.

ARIA Restaurant Brisbane

Floor to ceiling glass windows are the name of the game for ARIA’s Riverfire celebration. Offering undisturbed views over both the Brisbane River and the Story Bridge, you could do worse for viewing spots than ARIA. The menu for the night, designed by Matt Moran and head chef Ben Russell, includes such highlights as roast duck with red cabbage, rhubarb and pecan and apple sorbet paired with everyone’s favourite, a glass of bubbly. Oh mama.

Madame Wu

The gorgeous paper lanterns, long tables and view over the river make Madame Wu one can’t-go-wrong choice for Riverfire viewing. Madame Wu’s package features the standard all-you-can-drink cocktails but spices things up with a generous selection of canapes and main bowls available for tasting. Plus you can’t go past that cool-yet-casual atmosphere that makes Madame Wu a local favourite for a reason. Okay, we’re sold.

Kangaroo Point

Riverlife

Making the most of its position on the Kangaroo Point Cliffs, Riverlife is delivering the goods when it comes to fireworks viewing. A pop-up restaurant will be making an appearance, so you can sip and eat while enjoying unobstructed views of the main event. Swap staking out a spot on the cliffs for eight hours with a ticket to Riverlife’s extravaganza and we promise you won’t regret it.

Rooftop Bars

Dandy’s Rooftop Bar At The Fox

Sippers and dancers, we’ve totally got your back this Riverfire. Dandy’s Rooftop Bar at The Fox Hotel is bringing the Riverfire party to their quirky rooftop venue, with DJs all night and a Brazilian barbeque curated by Dandy’s very own head chef. If you get bored – which is highly unlikely, let’s be honest – roving performers will be sporadically putting on shows around the venue. Yes. Please.

Eagles Nest Brisbane

The Eagles Nest Riverfire celebration might be something of a well-kept secret in Brisbane, but that definitely doesn’t mean it’s not worth considering. Located on the 12th floor of The Point Brisbane Hotel, Eagles Nest offers panoramic views of the Brisbane River and the city skyline. That means the fireworks are going to look particularly stunning from this rooftop venue. The Riverfire package includes a whopping five hours of canapes and beverages, as well as access to that oh-so-exclusive balcony. Yeah, you definitely don’t want to miss this one.
