Turning another year older doesn’t have to be a meltdown moment, especially when you can belt out some karaoke and indulge in an award winning French feast and hire out a coffee shop to host your party in!

Whether it’s a milestone year or more of a filler there’s sure to be something in our birthday guide for you. Here’s to eating, drinking, being merry and blowing out those candles on your birthday!

Eat

Longtime

Perfect for big groups and banquet meals, Longtime in Fortitude Valley has all the elements of an epic birthday venue, from amazing modern Asian food and an energetic atmosphere to a secret alleyway entry. To top it all off, when you’re finished you’re in the heart of the Valley which is perfect for continuing the party.

Jessie’s Girl

Jessie’s Girl is a Petrie Terrace newcomer and long-time Brisbane favourite Scout’s baby sister that’s open at night time, woo! It’s a birthday candidate because of its well stocked bar, themed nights (Wednesday is for parmis and Thursdays are for lasagna), as well as the flattering lighting and the divinely lovely staff.

OTTO Ristorante

Birthdays are the sort of occasion that warrant booking somewhere fancy and everyone else has to come along for the ride. Sydney’s famous Italiano, OTTO Ristorante, arrived in Brisvegas with a bang and with it’s high-end prestige, amazing view and delicioso fare, it’s one of the top event venue options in town right now. Bring in a new year of you at OTTO and it will be one happy birthday!

Montrachet

Speaking of fancy, have you tried Brisbane Francophile institution, Montrachet? Your birthday could be just the right excuse. They have just taken up a new location in the King Street Precinct, moving from Given Terrace Paddington. While they’re famed for countless awards, these days you can try out what the new chef Shannon Kellam comes up with; team it with a bottle of French wine and finish the birthday night right with the Grand Marnier brulee. Et voila!

California Native

A Coorparoo gem, California Native makes the cut because of their party atmosphere, live music, and those fish tacos look damn good. They’re also BYO wine and make a mean margarita and sangria. Did somebody say joyous birthday celebration? Yahuh.

Drink

Jamie’s Espresso

Ask Jamie to hire out his venue and make a Brisbane coffee shop institution into your quasi-backyard, complete with barbecue and bar. Jamie’s Espresso is usually only open during the daytime and they open every Friday night for drinks so already hanging out at this venue after dark feels private oasis in the heart of James Street. A top birthday celebration venue!

Bar Alto

The Powerhouse’s Bar Alto offers a perfecto birthday plan all in one. Listen closely, start at sundown on the deck bar with Brisbane river views, amazing drinks and bar snacks. Move on to catch some comedy, a show or exhibition that’s on at the powerhouse and finish off inside for a cosy and delicious supper at Bar Alto including roast chicken and an alarmingly good tiramisu. It’s your party, so do what you want to!

Lennons Rooftop Bar

It’s a vantage point like no other in the Brisbane city, Lennons a part of the NEXT Hotel Group, is perched over the Queen Street Mall and Myer Centre. Cocktails and a rooftop location are the perfect backdrop for some birthday Insta-boasting.

Be Merry

Ben’s Karaoke

With a choice of both Vietnamese and Chinese food plus amazing karaoke, what’s not to love about a b’day bash at Ben’s in South Brisbane? It’s basically the funnest night around town. Karaoke is on Fridays and Saturdays from 9 til 11pm, so book in and start practicing your Whitney Houston ballad ASAP. Their round tables and lazy Susan’s will be waiting for your group.

Strike Bowling Bar

Strike Bowling Bar in the Wintergarden in Brisbane city is a winning birthday experience: a bit sporty, a bit party, a bit drinky. They’ll sort out the shoes and the lanes so all you have to do is focus on those strikes baby!

Putt Putt At Victoria Park Golf Club

If you’re the kind of person that opts for an adventure experience for their birthday, then putt-putt could be just the ticket for you. Victoria Park Golf Club in Herston offers a great 18 hole putt-putt mini golf course that’s open every night of the week. As an added bonus, the course is fully licensed, there’s an amazing view of the Brisbane CBD skyline and their bistro menu is top notch. Birthday, made!

Pub Choir

Pub Choir's tagline is ‘everybody can sing and we’re here to prove it’. What could be a merrier way to celebrate your birthday than singing as a part of a choir with drink in hand? Warm up your vocal chords at in the pubs of the Valley with your drink of choice and hey, if there’s a song request moment, make sure you ask for Happy Birthday! Check here for dates.

GOMA Up Late
