There’s a time and place for clean eating, and then there’s the other 23.5 hours in the day. We’re counting down Brisbane’s best fried foods—from doughies to croquettes, deep-fried ice cream to pork crackling—these are the Brisbane restaurants we highly recommend you get your grease on.

Don’t forget the Wet Wipes:

  1. Roesti Revolution's Gypsy roesti (or literally any of their roesti). 
  2. Carolina Kitchen's classic chicken wings.
  3. The APO's deep-fried brownie bites with coconut custard. 
  4. Red Hook’s battered pickles. We’re fairly confident beer was invented to accompany this snack.
  5. Miss Kay’s Dirty Fries with Miss Kay’s seasoning, cheese sauce and tomato chilli.
  6. Truffled mac 'n cheese croquettes from The Defiant Duck
  7. The Euro’s prawns with chipotle sauce. 
  8. Bucci’s giant green olives, stuffed with salami, pork, fennel, rosemary and chilli, then crumbed and fried.
  9. The fried zucchini flowers with mozzarella and anchovy at 1889 enoteca.
  10. Buffalo Bar’s deep-fried maple ice cream with smoked butter popcorn and drunken rum and raisin sauce. 
  11. Tinderbox’s spiced pork croquettes with aioli.
  12. Gerard’s Bistro’s fried cauliflower with ras el hanout, tahini, pomegranate and smoked almonds. 
  13. Soft shell crab bao with Asian slaw and hot and sour dressing at Longtime.
  14. Public’s famous Kentucky Fried Duck (KFD if you’re cool) with grilled corn and lime. 
  15. The fancy fish fingers at Drum Dining with pine nut crumb and pickled fennel. 
  16. Getta Burger's Pig Out burger: pulled pork, bacon, double cheese, signature BBQ sauce and fries.
  17. The iconic calamari at Beccofino.
  18. Classic poutine at Fat Angel Sports Bar and Grill
  19. Saké's popcorn roll with tempura prawns, spicy mayo, cucumber and tobiko. 
  20. Happy Boy’s salt and pepper quail eggs.
  21. Pan-fried shredded crispy beef with spiced peanuts and dried chilli at Sichuan Bang Bang.
  22. Jamon and potato croquettes from Gerard's Bar
  23. Hello Please's chicken ribs with red dragon sauce. 
  24. Falafel wrap from Wrapture with hummus, yoghurt sauce, tabouli and salad. 
  25. Junk Boat's crispy Peking duck spring rolls with spicy plum sauce. 
  26. Alphabet Cafe's daily doughnuts. Hands down the best 'nuts around. 
  27. Harajuku Gyoza’s salted caramel gyoza with ice cream.
  28. Tequenos de queso—fried wonton pastry fingers, filled with halloumi and jalapenos, served with guacamole—at Bloodhound Bar.
  29. Greaser’s buttermilk fried chicken. Bibs and extra Wet Wipes necessary.
  30. Heya Bar’s cheeseburger spring rolls.
  31. Eggplant parma from Jessie's Girl, available only on Wednesdays. 
  32. Ze Pickle's 'Southern Hick' burger with fried chicken, maple bacon, Jack cheese and ZP sauce. 
  33. Ol' School's handmade fish dim sim. 
  34. Gauge's fried sebago potato with malt vinegar cream, smoked onion salt and egg yolk. 
  35. Naïm’s latke stack—potato pancake stack with celeriac, horseradish and apple labneh, pickled onions and poached eggs.
  36. Zucchini fritters at Bar Alto
  37. Deep-fried Mars Bar from Banter Bar
  38. ...which goes down real nice after one of their posh fish finger sandwiches. 
  39. Buffalo fried cauliflower from Lucky Egg
  40. Buttermilk fried chicken and black waffles with Sailor Jerry maple syrup and coffee jalapeño butter from Deathproof
  41. Melt Brothers' loaded tater tots with house seasoning, cheese sauce, crispy bacon and spring onions. 
  42. Tippler’s Tap’s panko-crumbed onion rings with aioli.
  43. Polenta with capsicum sauce from Grown. So simple, so elegant. 
  44. Morning After's signature breakfast, the MaMuffin: sausage, egg, cheese, pickled chutney and a hash brown on a toasted English muffin. 
  45. Julius Pizzeria’s fritelle di ricotta—fried ricotta and raisin dumplings with vanilla and honey ice cream.
  46. Stokehouse Q's soda-battered fish with triple-cooked chips, seaweed salt and tartare sauce. 
  47. Sorellina’s crumbed mozzarella bites.
  48. Felix for Goodness's sweet potato falafel with black sesame baba ganoush, fresh herbs and lemon infused olive oil. 
  49. Classic honey puffs from Crispy Puff Donuts with honey, walnuts and cinnamon. 
  50. Agedashi tofu in bonito broth from Sono Japanese Restaurant
