Brisbane seems to have an unending love affair with breakfasts of all varieties, but we think we've found one that will make the breakfast obsessed put down those scrambies on toast and take notice.
Mizu Japanese restaurant in Teneriffe serve an authentic breakfast menu and, let me tell you, we are going totally Tokyo over it!
Despite the sushi craze that has swept the nation in the last 10-15 years, Japan's cuisine has yet to crack the breakfast market on our fair shores. A surprise, considering the wonders to be had.
Think okonomiyaki (tha's a veg' and seafood-laden, crispy-in-all-the-right-places savoury pancake), the Japanese version of savoury mince (called loco moco), and breakfast bento featuring some Japan's favourite brekkie dishes.
Mizu want you to try their breakfast so much that they are offering you, dear Urban Lister, a traditional matcha green tea latte (yum!) for free when you try the breakfast menu!
Just mention "The Urban List" when ordering to get the freebie.
If breakfast isn't your thang — are you even human? — don't worry, because Mizu is one of Brisbane's best Japanese restaurants, and their lunch and dinner offerings are off-the-charts delish'.
If you want to carry the Mizu magic back in to your very own kitchen, then Mizu (West End) run regular cooking classes so you can learn to roll sushi like a pro'.
Sake appreciation nights and origami classes for the little ones are just the icing on the cake!
So if savoury breakfasts are your fave, you love Japanese cuisine, and you are looking for something unique to kick off the weekend, then head to Mizu Teneriffe on Saturdays and Sundays until 11:30am.
And don't forget to mention The Urban List for a free matcha green tea latte! It's for a limited time though so get in quick!
