Big, busy weddings can be great. You can dance and toast the special night away with the hundreds of people around you. The hype of the crowd, the laughs at newly-discovered dance techniques and the lavish venue styling makes for a memorable event – no doubt about it.

That said, if you've taken a more, quantity, not quality approach to your big day, then the idea of quality time with just those few, handpicked, really special friends and close family probably appeals to you more. What you need is an intimate wedding venue, where the food is great, the décor is beautiful, and—because there are only a few of you—the staff are able to cater to your every need.

And let's not forget about the budgetary advantages. Fewer guests mean you can splurge on something that is particularly special to you (e.g. honeymoon!).

To help relieve some of the stress of finding the right intimate venue for you and your guests, we've handpicked some small but beautiful locations to help make your decision that little bit easier.

E'cco Bistro

Is your idea of a good celebration a night at an amazing intimate venue, enjoying private dining with the best company? Then e'cco private dining is perfect for you! e'cco offers a private dining room which can be booked exclusively, seven days a week, for your intimate wedding lunch or dinner. Set menus are available so guests can choose their meal of preference with a number of course options to cater for your budget. A seated function in the private dining room can cater for up to 30 guests, or 45 if you're looking to do a standing cocktail and canapé function.

Buzz Tennyson

Buzz in Tennyson is host to gorgeous views of the Brisbane River, visible from a terrace that comfortably mixes indoor and outdoor dining. Buzz caters for gatherings of all kinds and does it with creativity and flare! The venue will oversee every aspect of your intimate wedding entertainment needs and can help arrange everything down to your floral arrangements, food and beverage options (the kitchen team has an impressive resume), and table décor and decorations. You and your guests can enjoy the cosy indoors or dine under the stars, overlooking the calm beauty of the Brisbane River.

Era Bistro

Era understands how important it is for the wedding reception to be memorable and reflective of the style of the bride and groom. When it comes to weddings, one size certainly doesn't fit all and Era offer a beautiful area to host up to 55 guests. The stand-alone venue is ideal for those smaller wedding receptions and you can really make it your own for the evening. Prefer a bit of an alfresco setting? The bi-fold doors opens your area up to embrace the beautiful Queensland outdoors.

Malt Dining

Another amazing restaurant and bar option that offers private dining is Malt in Brisbane City. The venue is intimate, unique and functional. The grand architectural features compliment the buildings raw appeal and also makes for fantastic backdrops for your photos. Choose your level of privacy, from the Attic overlooking the lit-up streets of Brisbane city, or be tucked away from the world, in the impressive Cellar — perfect for the small, private reception dinner for up to 20 guests.
