Porridge is a winter staple. But, like so many things, it's better left to the pros. Trade in the microwave oats and milk for something a little more gourmet, as we countdown our top picks for the city's most gloriously creamy porridge concoctions.

Harveys
A mainstay on their winter breakfast menu, Harveys porridge does not disappoint. Hazelnuts and rhubarb sit delicately on some of the creamiest oats you'll ever come across. It may not be the best for those on a health kick,  but boy does it make a great winter warmer.
Where: Shop 4/31 James Street in Fortitude Valley

Sisco
We know we harp on a little about this Spring Hill hideaway, but they're just so good at what they do. Make sure you stop by as the weather cools to enjoy their seriously good porridge offering.
Where: 500 Boundary St in Spring Hill

BUZZ
BUZZ's porridge is a simple winter warmer at its best. Filled with raisins and drizzled with maple syrup it takes breakfast back to basics.
Where: Shop 22 at Emporium on 1000 Ann St in Fortitude Valley

Pearl Cafe
We've yet to try this one, as it's part of Pearl Café's newly-launched winter menu. But if their track record is anything to go by it's sure to be a hit. Made from quinoa, stewed rhubarb, walnuts, and mascarpone we'd like to think this dish will be a little kinder on the waistline. After all, quinoa is a super grain, is it not?
Where: 28 Logan Road in Woolloongabba
