There are few things in life more pleasurable than having a generous spread of feasting options in front of you.
And despite its misunderstood character, we are definitely fans of a well-placed buffet or two. And seafood buffets? GIVE US ALL THE FRICKIN’ OYSTERS!
Make no mistake though, my fine food-loving friends, not all buffets are created equal. Which is why it should be fist pumps all round that we have found one that reigns supreme and wins the fight any day of the week.
Say hello to Sofitel’s Thyme2, the supreme leader of amazing buffet-land.
Billed as an interactive restaurant thanks to the open plan kitchen and carvery station, Thyme2 is a dining experience worth writing home about.
We’ll start with the best part first: the seafood buffet. This pescatarian feat of epic proportions, brimming with local market seafood everyday, is so fresh it’s as though Nemo himself (the Captain, not the cute but very lost little clown fish) has plated it up. And we want to marry it.
If you’re not a seafood fan—okay, we can still be friends—there’s a huge selection of salads and hot dishes that traverse almost every continent without skipping a beat.
The cake cabinet (um, heck yes!) is a monument of international and French dessert delights, lovingly created by the hotel’s own patisserie and we don’t think it’s going too far to say that it is close to being the actual eighth wonder of the world. Oh, and did I mention the signature chocolate fountain? Yep, it’s a thing.
Add to all of that, a wine buffet fit for King Louis himself, a traditional boulangerie cart (full of French and artisan breads), a special gluten-free station and stunning views over Brisbane City, and you have yourself a AAA+ dining experience like no other in Brisbane.
Of course, if you don’t trust yourself with all that amazing choice, there’s a great a la carte menu to choose from that is classic and classy Sofitel all the way.
If you want to get in on the excitement, mention ‘The Urban List’ when you book to get a whole 25% off breakfast, lunch and dinner (excluding Friday and Saturday dinner; Saturday and Sunday lunch) before the end of September!
