For some reason, there is still a misconception floating around that 'foodie' and 'vegan' are two mutually exclusive lifestyles. Can we finally agree that this isn’t true? Brisbane is a hotbed of flourishing, plant-based cafes accommodating for the meat, dairy, and egg free amongst us. Whether you’re vegan by lifestyle, or just trying to get a bit of balance into your diet, here are some of Brisbane’s best vegan-friendly cafes serving up wholesome goodness.

Whilst not all the cafes below are 100% vegan, every one of them have plenty of vegan friendly options available. Winning!

Fundies Café And Juice Bar

Paddington

With so much to choose from (including the option to completely design your own breakfast) you’ll find yourself perusing the menu for longer than usual at Fundies. The scrambled tofu with oven roasted tomato is far better than anything I’ve ever made myself, whilst the Vegan Big Breakfast squashes the misbelief that vegan food is unsatisfying. Peruse the supermarket afterwards if you're feeling inspired.

Miss Bliss Wholefoods Kitchen

West End

If you are looking for a light breakfast after bootcamp, Miss Bliss offers an almost 100% vegan menu. The apple and goji bircher with tapioca pearls, kiwi jelly, seasonal fruits and matcha crumb is actually incredible. For something a bit heartier you can’t go past the marinated tofu burger with Asian slaw, greens and cashew cheese.

Lost Boys

Fortitude Valley

The team at Lost Boys have created an indulgent and rich menu that fully caters to the vegans and vegetarians amongst us. The vegan waffles with grilled pear, crystalised ginger, coconut ice cream and pistachio praline is so darn good that it could satisfy even the most sceptical omniovore.

Satori Organics Wholefoods And Juice Bar

Sandgate

Satori Organics will make you feel good from the inside out. All produce is sourced from a bi-weekly, spray free farmers market, as well as other local producers. Nut milks, kombuchas, fresh salads, and more are all produced in house with zero wastage. Keep that in mind whilst enjoying the falafel wrap with coconut yoghurt and orange juice tahini and you’ll feel better than ever.

Charlie’s Raw Squeeze

Multiple Locations

I’m sure by now you have experienced the exceptional smoothies and acai bowls available at Charlie’s Raw Squeeze (the Cotton Candy smoothie is life changing!) but have you tried their food options too? With a whole selection of salads and wraps available there’s always something satisfying to try. The taco bowl is the MVP of salads.

Botanica Real Food

Red Hill and Teneriffe

I can’t begin to tell you how incredible the offerings are at Botanica, so I’m simply going to urge you to go there IMMEDIATELY and check them out. Whilst not a typical dine-in café, Botanica offers a great selection of seasonal, wholesome meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. If it’s a sweet afternoon treat you need to get through the workday, they also have a killer selection of fresh, gluten-free cakes baked in-house every morning.

The Low Road

Windsor

First thing you’ve gotta know is that the staff at The Low Road are awesome; hilarious, warm, and masters of the chalkboard. Check them out if you like shaved zucchini, roast mushrooms, red onion, and fresh herbs, with a side of quality banter.

Sourced Grocer

Teneriffe

If you want to enjoy a slow morning with avocado smash, stroll through the grocer for gourmet finds, and be inspired to cook your own vego meals, Sourced Grocer is where you should be. Not just a dream for breakfast lovers, but also for the foodies amongst us that appreciate high quality, organic produce.

Sol Natural Foods

Fortitude Valley

Sol Natural Foods has long been a favourite of vegans, vegetarians, and omnivores alike. Accommodating to a variety of dietary requirements, they offer filling meals such as pizzas and focaccias, as well as smaller nibbles like tarts, pastries and seasonal salads. The vegan brekky burger with tofu scramble, vegan sausages, sautéed mushrooms and tomato relish is redic good.

Ironbark Organic Café

Samford

Particularly popular with the locals, Ironbark has been winning hearts thanks to their 100% organic approach to food. Their sweet treats are particularly stellar, but we can’t go past the bircher muesli and turmeric lattes.
