From a 30-storey vantage atop the summit of Four Points by Sheraton, the latest addition to Brisbane’s rooftops is just what this town needs. Opening this April 14th, and guaranteed to blast your socks clean off, Sazerac rooftop bar is a real classicist’s bar with just the right amount of attitude and just the right amount of altitude.
As with any lounge worth its salted rim, Sazerac pays proud homage to the evolution of mixing. Its raft of cocktails depicts a legacy of timeless tipples from the dawn of the 19th century (hence the name) to the 1920s’ prohibition speakeasies. But you won’t find these guys hiding in a dingy basement, and in such a heavenly setting among the low floating clouds, Sazerac bar is the best place for whiskey and skyline appreciation.
Of course, you can’t really enjoy a good cocktail and a view without the promise of snacks. Enter the cheftacular stylings of Ambrose Andrews, and a truly wonderful menu of share-plates to divide between the squad while you work your way down the drinks list.
It’s classic and sweet, but also slightly bitter, it’s steeped in history, and goes down like medicine after a spoonful of sugar. It’s Sazerac, and it’s about to light up the sky.
