One of our old favourite lunch spots, Chester Street Kitchen is reopening tomorrow after a little hiatus, and it's bigger and better than ever!
An impressive renovation has seen this little salad bar transformed into a breakfast, lunch, dinner, and drinks hotspot on Chester Street in Newstead.
We popped into the newly named Chester Street Bakery and Bar for a cheeky feed prior to its re-opening tomorrow, to get a feel for the new space and to check out the food and drink, and were suitably impressed. Owned by local restaurant superstar, Damien Griffiths (you might have heard of his little bar down the street, Alfred & Constance?), Chester Street promises to serve up honest, delicious food (created by Group Patron Chef, Jocelyn Hancock) in a friendly setting, with some top-shelf beverages to wash it all down with.
The heart of the new-and-improved Chester Street Bakery and Bar space comes from the impressive hand-built, wood-fired oven, which takes pride of place, and is responsible for pumping out the incredible sourdough bread and baked goodies on offer.
Hungry Brisbanites will be able to stop into Chester Street for their morning coffee and some baked goods, or for a light lunch (think quiches, pizzas, salads, and gourmet sandwiches).
After hours, the cosy spot will become a bustling neighbourhood bar, serving up simple, tasty bar bites (duck-fat chips with truffle salt, anyone?) and meals (we loved the pork chop with buttered cabbage) and a concise, novel drinks menu.
Chester Street Bakery and Bar re-opens tomorrow and the bakery will be open seven days (and the bar, six nights!) a week and we can't wait to welcome this little gem (back) into the neighbourhood.
