Anyone who thinks they couldn't benefit from a Pilates overhaul is fooling themselves (or you are like, Gwyneth Paltrow-fit, in which case, good for you). The many, many benefits of Pilates include better posture, a tight butt, toned legs, and increased muscle engagement (which involves waking up muscles you didn't even know you had). We've tracked down Brisbane's best pilates classes to help you on your way to gluteus sexy-mas.

Revive | Ashgrove
With a variety of teachers and techniques (reformer Pilates, mat Pilates, kids Pilates, pregnancy Pilates, teens Pilates – you name it, they've got a Pilates class for it!) this gorgeous Ashgrove studio is your one-stop, core strengthening shop (plus, they've even got a Pilates barre class in the works). In the crowded Brisbane Pilates scene, Revive are an oasis of calm.

Studio Pilates | Hamilton
Reformer Pilates (that's Pilates done on a springy machine using resistance bands) is the name of the game at Studio Pilates, where an instructor, alongside a video tutorial with high energy workout tunes, will take you through each fun body sculpting session. Their studios are totally luxe and feel more like beauty salons than sweaty, smelly, pain-filled gyms.

TPS Health
One of our office favourites, and one of Brisbane's best Pilates studios, TPS know that whether you're novice or a pro, Pilates is going to work wonders for you, and they really know what they are doing when it comes to lengthening and strengthening (they also offer exceptional physiotherapy and personal training services). 

The Pilates sessions at TPS are limited to five people per session and incorporate clinical Pilates reformers, Pilates ball and Pilates chairs, and Swiss balls. Because reformers use gentle spring loaded resistance, Pilates reformers offer a pain-free work out, and are great for targeting trouble zones, like the back of the arms, inner thighs, glutes, the back, and the waist. With studios in Morningside, Redlands, and Lutwyche, you'll have no trouble finding a TPS class near you that fits in with your schedule (because finding time to work on your abs can be tough).

Pure Health Clubs | Newstead
While they offer a range of classes, Pure is, at its heart, a Pilates gym. Offering one of Brisbane's most athletic Pilates experiences (that's a good thing!), Pure's talented instructors can lead you through both mat work and machine classes, and have made a specifically designed progression of classes that are designed to take you from Pilates rookie to tight-and-lean Pilates master in the shortest time possible. If you're after a strong back and flat abs, as well as killer posture, then their Pilates classes could be for you. 

Studio 45 Fitness
Housed in Oxford Street, Bulimba, Studio 45 Fitness is Brisbane's home to US workout trend, Lagree fitness, an aggressive work out that uses the basic principles of Pilates with cardio, strength training, and resistance for complete body perfecting (and the chosen work out of our own Nicole Kidman). This 45-minute work out can burn as many as 700 calories PER SESSION (#shutup), and it's safe and easy on the body.

Pondera Physio and Pilates
If you want a tailored Pilates program that's created just for you, you might want to check our Pondera in West End. They offer two 'streams' or classes: one for clients with no pain or injuries, and one for clients who need more support. Their 'fitness stream' (for clients without injuries) has group classes that are run by their highly trained instructors, as well as one-on-one instructional sessions, to refine your technique.

Body Organics
With clinics in Annerley, Chelmer and West End, the Pilates studios at Body Organics incorporate all the whizz bang Pilates contraptions that will transform your body into a hard body (think reformers, Wunda Chairs, Trapeze Tables, Barrels and Core Align) and allow you to work to the pace of your individually designed program. They also offer mat group classes (only on offer at their West End studio) with a limit of ten per class (plus instructor, of course!). One of Brisbane's best Pilates offerings, Body Organics comes highly recommended by our favourite fitness fanatics.
