It’s time to celebrate your favourite companion who greets you as soon as you get home, shows you nothing but love, and let’s be real, whose company you often prefer to that of humans—your pup. Ignore their puppy dog eyes as they stare longingly at the cake you bought to celebrate ‘their’ birthday no longer, because we’ve found a Brisbane business that makes treats just for them (and cats too)—though you can still get yourself a cake if you like.

Hungry Paw Pet Bakery makes homemade pet birthday cakes and treats for your ‘goodest boy’ to enjoy on their special day. Completely free of gluten, preservatives, salt, sugar and all those other things doggos shouldn’t eat, they’ll leave you safe in the knowledge that your pup (or cat) is diving snout first into a delectable treat with 100% natural ingredients.

So what’s in them if there is no human food? Well, these ‘cakes’ are made up of 70% meat and 30% seasonal veggies, topped with ‘icing’ made from tofu and honey. So basically, your dog will achieve your health food goals faster than you do. At $55 a pop for four-inch, $70 for a six-inch or $10 for cupcakes your pup can share with his mates, you can choose up to two kinds of meat including chicken breast, beef, lamb, prawn or salmon for $3 extra (well worth it for your boujee boy). They’ll even do a personalised dog cake—just send a picture of your pup so that the artist/baker/icon can recreate your pooch’s likeness. Pro tip: cakes need to be ordered two or three days in advance to ensure your pup doesn’t miss out.

Bonus, Hungry Paw does treats and nibbles for party favours too. The ‘sweet’ treats list includes pet ice cream and strawberry cake, ranging from $24 to $46 depending on size, or you can appeal to your pup’s savoury palette by grabbing some beef jerky, chicken breast chips, goat milk biscuits or chicken breast instant noodles that all sell in 100g and 300g quantities.

Located in Sunnybank, Hungry Paw Pet Bakery offers delivery with a delivery fee based on distance—but be sure to get in quick because if they’re fully booked making pooch feeds, deliveries are a no go! You can order by DM on their Instagram right here.

So go on, secure yourself as dog parent of the year by grabbing one of these adorable cakes for your four-legged gem.
