We've been blessed with yet another short week, so why not make the most of this weekend in Brisbane with activities like the Spanish Film Festival, Vegan Day Out, a Video Game market and more! There's a lot going on this weekend, but lucky for you we've done all the hard legwork so you can jump straight into the weekend and all the goodness that Brisbane has to offer. Thursday 27th April

Spanish Film Festival 2017

Another week, another international film festival is hitting Brisbane! The hotly anticipated Spanish Film Festival is back, and we are pretty excited to experience the best Spanish cinema once again. The 2017 program will kick off with European box office hit Kiki, Love To Love (Kiki, El Amor Se Hace), the third film from director Paco León. The opening night will include various festivities including drinks and snacks, so head online to purchase tickets.

Friday 28th April

Buddha Birthday Festival

One of the most stunning Brisbane events, this multicultural festival commemorates the birth of Buddha and is the largest of it’s kind in the world! Back for its 21st year, this three-day festival is packed with events including tree blessings, candle lighting, lion dances, dragon boat regattas, origami and calligraphy workshops, fireworks, tea ceremonies, international food markets, meditation sessions, and so much more. With over 350 performers and 180 events, check out the program online to make sure you don’t miss out on anything!

Pop-Up Paella Nights

Little Clive sure knows how to throw a shindig, and this month they are hosting a paella pop-up night—delicioso! With $15 paella, plenty of wine, and brilliant company, this is our top pick to wind down the week and cheers to the long weekend. Vegan Day Out

Alright, where are all our vegan pals?! This weekend in Brisbane, local cafes and businesses are offering a wide variety of vegan-themed specials; meal deals, free coffees, food samplings, discounted vegan groceries, and more of the like. If you want to get involved, head over to the Cruelty Free Shop to collect your free Vegan Day Out map which includes all the vouchers and special offers of participating outlets. Mongrel Takes Of Naïm

Whilst we wait for new-kid Mongrel to finally settle in a permanent home, they are treating us to a series of takeovers at some of our favourite Brisbane restaurants, starting with Naïm. Heading into the kitchen, the Mongrel gang is going to serve up a delicious dinner, including delights such as sardine tempura sandwiches, smoked mussel pâté, and octopus and piquillo pepper tequeños. Are you drooling yet? As well as a killer selection of drinks, it’s bound to be an indulgent and delicious evening—see you there!

International Table-Top Day

We all know by now that Netherworld is the go-to Brisbane bar for retro arcade fun and video game exploits, but this Saturday night they are turning the tables and bringing out a stack of tabletop board games in commemoration of International Tabletop Day! Grab your favourite games (or borrow one from Netherworlds’ 120-plus selection) and head in for an afternoon of board games and beers (killer combo), tips from “board game experts”, and some friendly competition.

Opera in the Vineyard

In its 25th year, Opera in the Vineyard is back once again with a truly unique day of entertainment. Opera Queensland is bringing out all the stops for the quarter-century event, with David Hobson and Limelight Artist of the Year Emma Matthews teaming up for a never-before-seen performance created especially for the event. In addition to the music, there will also be incredible meals served for lunch and dinner, prepared by the Barrelroom & Larder. As it is a particularly auspicious event, the organisers of the event have chosen the theme ‘Gatsby’, so make sure you put together your best 1920’s garb for an evening of dancing and music! Rosé Sundays

If you’re looking for a little extra ‘luxe’ for your Sunday brunching, turn to Jellyfish Restaurant and Rosé Sundays for the ultimate brunch! Their expertly crafted menu is the perfect way to indulge on a Sunday, whilst the rosé and river views are just the icing on the cake. Bookings are at 11:00 am each Sunday, for two-and-a-half hours. Labour Day Sail

This Sunday Byblos is hosting an extended Sunday sesh in honour of the labour day long weekend!
