The rain has had us feeling blue all week, but with the return of the weekend we can't stay sad for long. This weekend in Brisbane is bringing us a huge range of events including science festivals, French cinema, car park gigs, and boozy brunches. How could you not be keen?!

Board Games And Kitties

The amazing team at the Cat Cuddle Café dedicate their time to caring for dozens of kitties, and to help raise some much needed funds they are throwing a board game night so they can continue their amazing work for our feline friends. Grab a group of your favourite pals, a couple of games, and snuggle in with some sweet little furballs that are waiting for their fur-ever home.

Alliance Francaise French Film Festival 2017

It’s true, we included this one last week to celebrate the opening night, but as the festival fun is ongoing until early April, why wouldn’t we want to included it again this week?! Gallic cinema is in the spotlight during the Alliance Francaise French Film Festival, which is currently showing an eclectic selection of films at Palace Centro and Palace Barracks. Telling a variety of different stories in a myriad of voices, the AFFFF is a vibrant celebration of the thriving French film industry. Our personal picks: Marie Antoinette-centric Farewell, My Queen, adventurous biopic The Odyssey, and A Bun In The Oven. The full line-up can be viewed online to make planning your night at the movies as easy as possible.

The Castle Trivia Night

Dad reckons trivia is 10% brains and 95% muscle, the rest is just good luck. Voted the movie that most accurately represents Australia in a survey by the Australia Day Council of NSW in 2010, The Castle is a classic Australian film. If you think you know everything there is to know then put a team together because we have a good vibe about this night.

Transitions Film Festival is bringing an epic line-up work world-changing documentaries to Brisbane and we recommend you get tickets ASAP. With a film and speakers program highlighting the mega-trends shaping humanity and showcasing stories about the inspired visionaries, revolutionary changemakers, and passionate citizens shaping our collective future, the festival is sure to spark interesting conversations and give you plenty to talk about over dinner.

Brisbane Live Music Week

4ZZZ is a Brisbane institution, and this week they are celebrating the best of live music with a seven-day celebration of live tunes and sonic shenanigans. To really get the celebrations started they will be hosting a series of car park gigs with a killer line-up of home-grown goodness: Dirty Liars, Biscotti, Orlando Furious, Julia R, and more.

World Science Festival

Now’s the time to think back to those compulsory grade 9 science classes, because the World Science Festival is making it’s way to Brisbane and there’s a lot going on that you won’t want to miss out on. We’re talking about international physicists, marine biologists, environmental scientists, extraordinary thought leaders, and national treasure, Dr Karl Kruszelnicki. Whether you’re a science savant or merely inquisitive, this is a unique opportunity to learn a little about this big world of ours.

Milton Markets Autumn Edition

The Milton Markets are taking a cue from the change of seasons and is mixing things up this week, with the first ever Seasonal Flavours event! Inspired by the tastes of Autumn, the markets will feature delicious local and interstate specialty pop-up stores, gourmet foods, heaps of chocolate stalls (just in time for Easter!), themed entertainment, and other autumn goodness. The Brisbane autumn might seem a little tame compared to chilly Melbourne, but that’s just because we are #blessed with good weather. It definitely doesn’t mean we should miss out on the chance to celebrate the changing seasons!
