Some things just go together, like PB and jelly, and Posh and Becks, so this year we’ve teamed up with MINI to bring you, our discerning readers and drivers, our fortnightly MINI Fave 5 series: The must-try guide to Brisbane, celebrating the launch of the new MINI 5-door hatch!
SO WHO'S ON OUR HIT LIST OF BRISBANE'S BEST WEST END BREAKFAST SPOTS?
It seems a lil' unfair to the rest of Brisbane that one little bohemian suburb should boast such an epic share of quality cafes. It’s home to some of the best coffee going around, a multitude of breakfasts to drool over, and interiors to swoon over. So which suburb are we getting so excited about? We’re looking at hippie-chic-central, West End. Today we’re counting down our Fave 5 West End Breakfast Spots—the must-visits to sate a burning morning hunger.
Miss Bliss Wholefoods Kitchen
At Miss Bliss Wholefoods Kitchen you’ll never, ever feel guilty about indulging in a big brekkie again. Dishing out one scrumptious and nutritious option after another, you can pretty much get your daily dose of fruit and vegetables in one fell swoop. Top of our best breakfast list is the Wellness Board with its soft gooey eggs, sautéed greens and sweet potato hummus. Add in the Berry Bliss Smoothie with raspberry, mango and coconut and you’ll be feeling on top of the world.
Sol Breads has a loyal breakfast following, and with a focus on vegetarian and vegan fare, this little café cum bakery is great for the diet and the tastebuds. Our pick is the avocado on rye with a balsamic glaze, but it’s hard to go past the classic buttery almond croissant or pain au chocolat..
The Gunshop Café
With its raw, exposed brick, and low, designer lights, The Gunshop Cafe has been setting the benchmark for Brisbane best breakfasts and the line up outside on a Saturday morning is proof of its hotspot status! It’s hard to balance a sweet brekkie option without being too sugary for the morning, but the house made granola with lemon curd and fresh raspberry does it quite nicely.
Mondo Organics has been leading the way with incredible organic delights for over 15 years. Their seasonal lunch and dinner menus are heavenly, but it’s their breakfast menu that is what dreams are made of. We’re talking about the sourdough banana French toast with mascarpone and the oats and quinoa porridge with pure maple. Yummmm.
Once a graffiti-covered factory space, Plenty has been transformed into a light and airy eatery offering one of Brisbane's best breakfasts. Plenty focuses on locally grown ingredients and fresh produce and a menu that changes daily. Some of the best flavours to hit our tastebuds have included the spiced tomatoes with haloumi and warm sourdough with carrot jam preserve. #winning!
We're thrilled to partner with MINI to bring you our Fave 5 series—our fortnightly guide to the best of the best in Brisbane. From food to fashion, Campari to Crossfit, each Fave 5 edition is researched and recommended by The Urban List, and driven by the new MINI 5-Door Hatch—putting the city at your fingertips and giving you the freedom to explore it!
