Dilemma: You want to cheat on your gym membership and buy a brand new pair of jeans instead. What's a cash-strapped girl to do? Luckily, we have tracked down Brisbane's best FREE exercise options so you can stash that cash and put it towards some fun and frivolity instead!
Our first shout out goes to theBrisbane City Council's Active Park program. At parks all over Brisbane there are free, organised fitness sessions with everything from Pilates through to tree climbing. Check out BCC's Active Park for details on a session near you.
If you're not into organised activities, then perhaps a stair climb session at Kangaroo point cliffs is more your speed. A half a dozen times up and down those and you are well on your way to getting those legs out in a new pair of shorts (bought with all that cash you've saved).
Only a true water baby will be getting into a pool in mid winter, but toning the arms for strappy summer dresses is best done by swimming laps! Free pools in and around Brisbane include Southbank beach, Settlement cove lagoon in Redcliffe, and the Wynnum wading pool.
If you need a little competition to keep you motivated, then Brisbane's free ParkRun events are just the ticket. ParkRun are free five kilometre, timed runs that are held Saturdays, leaving from New Farm and South Bank. It's also a worldwide community so you can join a ParkRun wherever you are!
And finally, for the gentler fitness souls among us, the Australian School of Meditation and Yoga offers a free yoga class at their West End studio on a Friday afternoon at 3.30pm. And your mind can get a massage at the same time with their plethora of free meditation sessions. Check out their timetable here.
