Gerard’s Bistro on James Street

We are excited to announce the opening of Gerard's Bistro on Fortitude Valley's James Street tomorrow! 

There is no doubt that any true Brisbane local would have lost themselves in Lychee Lounge or Laruche during one or two of their after-hours adventures... And it is the Moubrak's, the masterminds behind these cool and quirky destinations that are bringing you Brisbane's newest restaurant and bar. 

We were lucky enough to have a sneak peak at Gerard's Bistro and immediately felt as if we were transported to another point in time and space.  Moroccan tiled walls meld with futuristic lighting fixtures and one seriously impressive concrete bar to create an exotic and eclectic space.

Although we are yet to experience (ex Urbane and 1889 Enoteca) chef Ben Williamson's culinary creations, we have been promised the food is just as dynamic and interesting as the décor.  Drawing inspiration from the Middle East and northern Africa, Gerard's will combine serious food and drink in an informal and relaxed environment. 

Some things that immediately took our fancy as we pondered the mains menu include: the Charcoal Wagyu with garlic chive, chlorophyll and eggplant crisp; the Saltbush lamb tagine with dates, preserved orange and green olive crumb; and the seared mackerel with mussels, saffron nage and squash blossom. 

For those seeking a late-night snack, a constantly revolving bar menu will include options like Hot and spicy Pork crackling, or smoked eel croquettes. For dessert, we were enticed by the Blood orange crème Catalan and Valhrona white aero with rose marshmallow, strawberry leather, pomegranate and spiced rosé. 

We will give you a full run-down on these mouth-watering compositions when Gerard's opens this Friday 6th July for its maiden lunch-time service.  

Gerard's Bistro will be open for lunch and dinner seven days, with breakfast offered from Friday to Sunday.
