If you’ve a bit of a sweet tooth (#guilty) watch out because Brisbane’s biggest ever festival dedicated to the (not-so) humble sponge cake is popping up this weekend! Enter; the International Cake Show aka heaven on earth!
The largest of its kind in Australia, the International Cake Show is hitting up Brisbane for one weekend only, bringing some of the very best cake bakers and decorators in the world to showcase their magnificent designs.
From DIY cake decorating masterclasses (from the best in the world, no less), presentations, live demos from the best Aussie and international talent, even sculpture shows. (Rumour has it there’ll be a two-day cake-off challenge where two of the world’s finest bakers will literally bake-off a masterpiece.)
Chef’s from all over the world will be sharing their knowledge. Paul Bradford, Zoe Clark, Margie Carter, Sir Eddie Spencer, Mio Shih, Julia Day, Shayne Greenman and Raewyn Read will be showcasing their designs along with many other chefs.
Want to get more out of your cake experience? Same. Grab a friend and climb the sugar stairs (this is a thing) to the top of Faye Cahill’s giant wedding cake or, if you feel like your inner child is busting out, stop by the interactive Alice in Wonderland exhibit made entirely from cake and sugar. Sorry, let us repeat that. MADE ENTIRELY FROM CAKE AND SUGAR. Mind. Blown
Before you leave make sure you stop by the sweet zone and browse through the 90+ stalls stuffed to the brim with sweet things (and the tools you’ll need to make them).
We don’t know what you’re up to this weekend but we’re calling it: cancel ALL your plans and make a beeline for the International Cake Show. Because everything’s better with cake.
