We've already started writing about Christmas . . . can you believe it?
Here in The Urban List office we are in full-on planning mode, doing the hard yards to bring you the low down on where to celebrate this festive season. We're going to have you covered for all things Christmas related over the coming months, but because we know you like to get your social calendar sorted, we are starting our 2013 Christmas campaign with a look at places you can book to celebrate in style.
'Tis the season for office parties and family do's, but we always look forward to gatherings with our friends the most (sorry, Boss). With that in mind, we've put our thinking caps on and picked out some of the best places in Brisbane to hold an intimate celebration—somewhere perfect for a small gathering where you can sit down, eat, drink, and, y'know, talk to the other guests.
Here are our picks for places to hold an intimate Christmas party in Brisbane:
One of our absolute favourite restaurants, Enoteca really holds the standard when it comes to beautiful, authentic Italian food and wine in Brisbane. We love their Vinaio room (The Wine Store), Enoteca's private dining space, which caters for 6-12 guests. Dining in this gorgeous room sees you surrounded by some of Italy's best bottles of wine and is the perfect setting for a small gathering where delicious food and wine is the most important thing. And, really, when isn't it?
Enoteca's La Famiglia A Tavola ('the family table') is also an option for smaller parties. As few as 10 guests can enjoy this beautiful space and the traditional Italian menu, with a range of courses designed to share, family-style, which makes this spot perfect for a relaxed function.
We sang their praises as the perfect function space only last week, but a round up of intimate Christmas party venues would be incomplete without the inclusion of Mr & Mrs G Riverbar. The cosy space, the view, the food and drink, the VIEW . . . it's hard to go past this riverside gem when it comes to small, stylish parties this festive season.
You want a cool bar to host your little gathering but you want them to serve great food as well? Yeah, you're greedy, but luckily we've got just the place! Canvas in Woolloongabba is an excellent choice for a Christmas party with friends. Its relaxed, fun vibe, delicious bites, and amazing cocktails guarantee guest satisfaction on all levels. You can hire the venue exclusively if you want real intimacy, or you can talk to the friendly Canvas crew about an option that suits your group.
We wrote about Vic Park's Christmas party offering last week, but if you're looking for a smaller function, don't look past this Herston gem. The Victoria Park Bar and Bistro is an excellent choice for a more intimate gathering—just book a table or two and you're all set! The views are sensational and the relaxed vibe will have you and your pals feeling the festive spirit in no time.
Watt Restaurant and Bar is offering Christmas cocktail parties for small groups, set to the glorious backdrop of Brisbane River, with tunes by DJs Cool Hand Luke + Chantal. The Watt X-Mas offer is available on Thursdays between 6pm – 8pm from the 14th of November to the 19th of December, and the package includes two hours of canapés and three drinks, for $50 per person.
It's a well-known fact that food and wine make a party an, if that's the case (it is), Claret House might just be the perfect party spot. Excellent location, sensational food and wine, and friendly service, Claret House is a great choice for a Christmas party with your nearest and dearest. Whether it's a sit-down dinner inside or casual drinks on the deck, you can't go wrong. Get in quick though, they're taking bookings for Christmas now!
