Is This The Most Epic Stay-Cay Location EVER?

By Jessica Pridmore - 09 Oct 2015

Not that we’re jealous or anything, but our southern pals tend to get the lion’s share when it comes to glam getaway street cred. Sure, there’s that harbour thingy in Sydney, and there’s some big sports ground and the whole coffee vibe in Melbourne (whatever), but Brisbane has her own gems, and it’s high time we embraced our tropical sunshine city and give her the kudos she deserves!

Maybe you’re looking to pull out all the stops for your S.O, enjoy a chilled weekend (or a long one if you’re super cool like that), or want to get away from your kids/housemates/in-laws/over-zealous pet. Perhaps you fancy a spot of shopping, or just to explore a part of the city you’ve never ventured to.

We say stuff the expensive flights and exhausting must-cram-it-all-in itineraries, and fall back in love with your city again courtesy of a little luxe stay-cay, local style. Oh, and we’ve got just the place…

Open less than 8 weeks, the Balfour Suites are a stunning new addition to Brisbane’s boutique hotel scene, and only moments up the road from its sister site, iconic luxury Brisbane hotel, Spicers Balfour in New Farm. Situated in a historic Art Deco building—we’re not just talking a lick of paint here, new drapes there—the Balfour Suites have been painstakingly restored to reflect the elegant heritage of the original era. Luxed out to the max, natch.

In addition to full access to Spicers Balfour Hotel’s award-winning restaurant, The Balfour Kitchen (it doesn’t get much better than that tbh), the 8 new rooms are decked out with all the mod cons and luxuries you’d expect from the award-winning team at Spicers (hint; they’ve won a lot of awards). With super king sized beds, beautiful grand baths and rain showers in every suite, plus your very own private lounge area with a fully stocked mini bar and snack essentials (does wine count?), just call us a regular Daisy Buchanan.

With gorgeous spaces to relax in throughout the properties, plus use of Spicer’s infamous ‘honest bar’ (where guests keep tally of their self-poured drinks), who needs harbour bridges and shopping laneways? Sometimes the best getaways are the ones that relax the bod and rejuvenate the mind. A long drink while lounging in a luxury room never hurt anyone either!
