You guys, we have an important announcement: Melbourne’s favourite Mexican cantina Chingon has opened in Brisbane this week!
Chingon is Spanish slang for ‘badass’, and that’s exactly the flavour tone they’re promising the folk of Brisbane: gritty, authentic Mexican street food, tequila, imported beer and a sensual atmosphere that will make you feel like the streets of sunny Mexico lay just outside.
These guys have a taco menu that’ll make you want to gather the troops and get tasting faster than you can say get in the freaking car: char-grilled porks and steaks, flame-grilled fish, orange and honey charcoal chicken, grilled garlic prawns and fire-roasted corn. They’re also known for their delish salsa, which comes in three different types: fire-roasted Mexicana, warm black bean and, of course, mouth-watering guacamole.
Chingon Cantina y Taqueria is located next to Eagle Lane fave Brooklyn Standard. We’ve also heard that this Mexican fixture is the first of many themed eateries planned for Eagle Lane and that there may be a Cuban joint on the way, so stay tuned…but for now, salsa your way down to Chingon to satisfy your weekly taco quota.
