The cooking classes on offer at Newstead's, The Golden Pig Food & Wine School are always loads of fun and a fab' gift idea. But this time the folks at The Golden Pig have gone one step further and designed a very special class that's the perfect opportunity to indulge a loved one (and you'll pick up a few kitchen tricks along the way, too!)
This is not your typical cooking class, and, boy, would we love to be on the receiving end of this culinary fun-day. The trick is, the cooking class itself isn't the gift. In fact, your partner doesn't have to lift a finger to enjoy the spoils of this class. For this little treat, you do the cooking, and your loved one gets to eat the rewards of your effort!
With a focus on the more challenging aspects of Asian cuisine—think handling live crabs, cooking a whole rainbow trout, and mastering the art of Tea Smoking techniques—this Asian masterclass is for the adventurous, and is guaranteed to impress that special someone.
The 6-hour class — taught by the very talented Katrina Ryan, formerly at Spirit House and ex-Neil Perry protégé — culminates in a four-course meal, complete with matching wines, which your chosen guest is cordially invited to attend.
The menu for the evening includes crispy coconut fried prawns, salt-and-pepper mud crab, boned, whole chicken, stuffed with Chinese omelette, and a tea-smoked rainbow trout, among other exquisite Asian delicacies. Seats to this special event on Saturday the 29th of June are sure to book out fast, so lock in your spot now!
And, should this delicious marathon not appeal to your lazy side, you can always enjoy the delectable fare on offer at The Golden Pig's café (they're open for breakfast and lunch Monday to Friday), or stop in for a drink at The Golden Pig's lounge bar on a Thursday or Friday night.
