Southside Tea Room

If you've been looking for a side of comfort with your chai, the Southside Tea Room might just fill that hole in your heart.

Not offering just any old variety of comfort, the newest addition to the suburb oozes the kind of warmth you could usually only get sitting in nana's lounge room, amongst her spoon collection and macrame plant holders.

Serving a variety of retro treats including neenish tarts, sand cake and delectable (albeit sugar coma inducing) marshmallow, cornflake and chocolate chip cookies the size of your face, the Southside Tea Room is just the spot for locals looking beyond the overcrowded Oxford Street on a Saturday morning.

If sweet treats aren't your thing (in which case you might be on the wrong website), try the Dramanti Artisan Roaster coffee, a variety of teas from Tea Craft or a Margaret River soft drink.

And we hear what lies beyond the curtains at the back of the cafe will be revealed as a bar - cross your fingers the liquor license comes through sooner rather than later.

If you're looking for a hot tip, you can't go past a steaming gunpowder green tea and a cookie. Perch on one of the mini stools - for some reason, cute furniture makes everything taste better.

Where: The Southside Tea Room is located at 639 Wynnum Road, Morningside.
