Spanakopita Brings Greece to Newstead

By Claire Kelly - 16 May 2012

If your hump day is in need of something golden, crispy and filled with cheese, then we have a hot tip for you.

Newly opened Spanakopita in Newstead specialises in delicious parcels of filo, spinach and cheese, and bakes said parcels to order so you know they'll always be packing maximum crunch.

Owned by Peter Bellas (Brisbane art aficionado and Jamie's dad), you can wander upstairs and munch on your spinach pie surrounded by his personal art collection. Alternatively, just gaze at the sweets cabinet - the baklava is definitely an art in itself.

Our hot tip? Since everything is freshly baked to order, you'll want to call ahead on 07 3852 4130.

Where: Spanakopita | 32A Chester Street in Newstead
When: Wednesday to Saturday 10:00am - 6:00pm, Sunday 9:00am - 12:00pm
