There’s a new sunflower farm in town, and to celebrate their first season, they’re throwing an entire sunflower festival. After years of drought, a farm in Kalbar in the Scenic Rim opted to get out of the hay business and into the flower biz, planting over 200,000 sunflowers in their fields—and now they’re in bloom.
Head for Kalbar Sunflowers on Saturday 27 March (or the second day added on Sunday 28 March) and you can take in the fields of gold in all their glory on their first ever Sunshine And Sunflower Day, with a heap of activities planned to make the most of the blooms. If you can wake up nice and early, you can join them for sunrise yoga in the sunflower fields, with a one hour yoga session followed by a healthy breakfast of Scenic Rim produce. How good will all that look on your ‘Gram?
If you’re more of a late riser, there will also be sunflower cooking classes throughout the day, as well as a three-course sunset dinner cooked by award-winning chef Richard Ousby. Just want to don your best floral outfit and take endless photos amongst the flowers? You can do that too (with full permission rather than a stolen roadside stop, might we add), with farm visit tickets available. There will even be food stalls, a coffee cart and picnic hampers available to complete your trip.
